Overpriced very basic food. Even today with the offer of bogof on burgers I still felt cheated. These burgers are usually £14-18 depending on bbq sauce or bacon added, which for a pub in hopton is pricey, unless of course we are talking gourmet fresh home made patties on a toasted brioche bun with a decent Swiss or American cheese gherkins et al. . Here I was presented with a cheap soft white bap cheapo iceberg lettuce and salad tomato and some melted cathedral city, the cheddar overpowering the greasy burger still spilling it's meat juices out the sides of my bap onto my hands and plate, served with exactly three teaspoons of coleslaw and approx 14 chips... total rubbish even at half price and what I would expect to be served at a roadside cafe. The wine is ludicrously priced at £7.95 for 175ml and £8.95 for 250ml for basic pinot or chardonnay... same bottle purchased at waitrose last week for £7.49... this place is a complete rip off and the food is junk, not even actually.. although I don't frequent either, I would have preferred McDonald's or burger king over their burgers... I honestly don't know how they sleep charging £17 for lasagne or gammon £18 for Chili, £20 for ribs etc.. they are a lot more expensive than the surrounding haven or park holiday sites on both food and drink prices, but offer absolutely nothing more in quality. You will no doubt post some derisory reply in follow up as you try to defend your locally sourced organic ingredients etc etc... which will be total nonsense as clearly everything was from asda 200m away from your door at best!
what a silly reply you ridiculous little man. how about we discuss rescue remedy in person next time i am in the area, i may be able to teach you how to make a decent burger too you tool. i leave reviews about poor service and product to warn others not to waste their time and money, nothing else and my anger levels remain calm, you are indeed a moron and an idiot, anyone with half a brain can make a simple burger for less than a fiver, your meat and bread products are laughable and cheap, if you start to get them right you may stand a chance going forward, but until you learn to accept criticism and that your are getting it very wrong you won't change. small man syndrome i guess.. but hey thanks for taking the time to read all my reviews, you could have put your time to better use though and spent it reading up on...
Read moreWell where to start I popped into the restaurant the day before me and my partner wanted to go for dinner, I spoke to the gentleman and asked for a table for 2 and also asked if there was something they could do as it was our anniversary and I got told they could do a few bits for us. upon arrival I asked if they was able to do something for us and there answer was no they dont do stuff like that, which conflicted what we was told. Anyway we got shown to our table and they took our drink order and food orders they only offer a carvery on a sunday which we didnt mind as this is what we wanted. After this our food showed up and at first sight it looked delicious so we dug in only to find that the gravy that was on our food was burnt and ruined the whole dish, and to make matters worse the meat was overcooked and tasted gross. I definitely think an Asda frozen roast is better and that is saying alot as they are very bad. After our dinner we ordered desserts we didnt say anything as we both have previously 9work in a similar line of work and we know the hassle it causes. For dessert my partner had a chocolate fudge cake with cream and asked for it to be warmed up a little as she doesnt like cake cold. This was like it was placed in a microwave for way too long as the cake was l it had curled in the microwave. I had a passion fruit cheesecake with ice cream the ice cream was nice but the cheesecake had way too much passionfruit on it which just makes it super bitter.we would never come here again as it single handedly ruined our entire ay. I definitely would not recommend to anybody due to the nasty food just get an Asda frozen roast, trust you...
Read moreWe visited recently when on holiday at the Haven Holiday site at Hopton, just down the road. Whilst the staff were lovely, we were there for 2 hours (7:30-9:30) due to the slow service. When booking we couldn’t get through the first time as they didn’t answer the phone. This became evident in the restaurant as when we were seated the phone rang several times and was unanswered. We arrived around 5-10 minutes earlier than expected and we were seated but no drinks were taken until half past 7, this could of been done when we were seated. There was no drink menu available. The food menu selection seemed to be limited, there didn’t seem to be a large variety of things. A majority of our table likes the food however mine and my partner didn’t enjoy ours. I got the BBQ chicken melt and the portion size was very small, there was barely any cheese on it either and I was left hungry. My partner has the Cajun chicken skewers which were coated in so much seasoning and made it too spicy to the point it was inedible. The food took far too long to come out as well, we waited well over an hour for it to be served to us. The restaurant wasn’t really busy either. The table next to us left because their food took too long. The only redeeming factor was that the chocolate fudge cake was nice. While the staff were lovely, they weren’t very attentive. They didn’t ask if we wanted anymore drinks we had to shout them over. We asked for the desert menu but then had to call someone over to take our order. The only time they were attentive was when we were paying at the end. The restaurant really has some potential but the wait time...
