In a few words; Meh at best. In more words; We went during the eat out to help scheme so we're expecting it to be heaving but it wasn't too busy which was nice to see at 7.30pm. Our table was ready to go as coronavirus we had to book ahead. Could of put us further away from the table next to us but I think it fitted in the 1m+ guidelines at the moment. We went for southern fired chicken strips as a starter which was fine. 4 strips, some bbq sauce, pretty plain but did the job. Then went for a "signature" hunters chicken and smokey Joe burger. The chicken was supposed to come with a marinara sauce which never materialised and I think the "signature" was signed by the microwave! Again, fine is a word I would use and for half the advertised price I can't complain. The menu talks a big game which unfortunately just doesn't deliver. The burger was also pretty average and quite bland despite claiming to have all this extra stuff in it. A shame as we were looking forward it. Dessert we went for chocolate fudge cake which was pretty good and the same make as others I've had around the place but somehow smaller than the usual chunk you're given. That's something to be aware of aswell. The portions really aren't that big for the price you're paying vs the quality you're getting. You pay alot and get a small plate you generally think its going to be good quality. Pay less, like a weatherspoons which this whole meal reminds me A LOT of (and potentially worse than in places) and you expect a bigger plate but less quality. Overall can't really recommend, full price for the quality we received, you'd be better off paying less or more somewhere else. Picture is halfway through the sloppy joe burger. Might of had 3-4...
Read moreThe app took a long time to set up and order from (about 25 minutes before we were able to put our order in, which was a bit rubbish- the app being hard to navigate, that bit a 1 star) then a lot of the things I had looked at on the menu (when looking at allergies) were all crossed through when it came to the ordering page, so I had to rethink my orders. My hot chocolate the waitress explained there was only a tad of chocolate left which wouldn't make a good one so would I like a coffee drink instead. I ordered a flat white which I had to send back because there was no foam on it at all and when I did get my drink eventually it was luke warm but wasn't going to send it back a 2nd time. The food and drinks came out very quickly which was good and bad. Our food was straight out of a can and jar and microwave. The lack of options available (beer, starters, no salads on the menu accept a side salad etc) was disappointing. The soup of the day you had to ask about but there weren't any staff coming out and checking on people. Only drop food off and run. The two stars are for the actual wait service (because they were nice when at your table) and the fact on a wet Mon was able to walk in and get an outside table in some shelter. It's only my second time to the pub but don't think I would recommend this pub for a place to eat. Rubbish pub food. Think they would be better off offering greasy spoon food because that was the level. Cheap. Not even that cheerful. Looks like it would be a pub with better food but think I will leave it to other pubs that can actually cook V's fry or get it out...
Read moreSunday 6th August 2023. Having looked on the website I was impressed and saw a Dogs menu which was great! I phoned to check availability and was told to come in as they were accepting walk-ins for roast dinners. I also checked that the dog was welcome. When we got there I walked in to the left side to a very rude woman who when I asked if they had a table for 2 and a dog for a roast she sighed heavily and seemed genuinely annoyed I had even asked. She was told there were no tables where dogs could sit, apart from outside (it was raining). When talking to her I felt I was putting her out. She then walked off and I assumed she'd gone to check availability or something but didn't come back. I then went outside to explain this to my partner and came back in to ask how long it would be until a table would likely become available. We didn't mind a wait. When I went back in another girl spoke to me on the bar, and she was really nice and welcoming. She explained that if I went outside and waited for 5-10 minutes she would move some things around and get us a table. 10 minutes later my partner went inside to follow this up to be told by someone else that they weren't even serving roasts now and they didn't have any tables free. Whilst he was waiting to be told this they were too busy sorting out an order that had been inputted wrong or something and he was ignored whilst this was happening. I wish I had read the reviews before going and just gone somewhere else instead of...
