I booked this place for our 23rd wedding anniversary and was the first time we have been here. Upon arrival there is a big car park with adequate parking. The building looks fantastic and really is the epitome of the Surrey Hills, as we entered we were seen to buy a friendly team member who ushered us to our table which was outside on the patio area near the river. It had lovely vibe outside with live music from a local artist, followed by "cafe del mar" type lounge/chill out music. Our order was taken and our starters came out in a good time and piping hot.........the food was very well presented and tasted amazing........my steak main was expensive but was cooked to perfection. The only gripe I had if I had to be ultra critical.....was the staff weren't on the ball outside, and were quick to get into a group chatting and on their phones which left us to ask for drinks etc whilst trying to catch their eye to order. Other than that minor point the place and food were fantastic as were the cocktails👌 I would recommend this place and will visit here again to see if our experience will be different.

What an absolutely brilliant place. It had everything you want in a pub / restaurant starting with a beautiful setting, loads of good parking. The staff were super friendly, accommodating, Happy and just “on their game” Molly and the guys run a slick service and it resonates with the customers too. It’s a busy little bar with a seriously nice buzz of atmosphere about the place with a constant changing demographic of super friendly regulars all knowing one and other, having a good time. Elders, young mums with their kids, workers having a quick pint after work, families coming for a slap up meal in the restaurant and with a little bit of live music by “James Deane” no less…..as non locals we were treated the same by a very very friendly group of locals and staff and made to feel welcome and comfortable. Absolutely fantastic. And just to top that off. They let us stay overnight in our CamperVan in their Carpark round the back. Best place I’ve been to in a very very long time.

The Best Pub We've Eaten At !! The Gomshall Mill is not only a pretty, character full pub of outstanding natural beauty, it also has the best food we have tasted on our extensive travels. The Chef obviously cares about food and how it should look & taste. Flavours were amazing, with fresh, quality ingredients, that make a real difference. We had Fishcakes and a Chicken, ham & leek pie. Both came with tasty moorish gravy and sauce, with veggies cooked to perfection. The crumble was an obvious choice which was just as good as the meal. As for the surroundings- there's ancient brickwork, sympathetic restoration and the jaw dropping mill that has the river running through it,where you can sit in 'The Bridge's and admire the energy of the movement of all that water. The gardens are just as picturesque with many places to eat & drink, with even some loungers to soak up the sun whilst enjoying your tipple. To me,this is the bar for Gastro pubs in England and it's set at its highest.

At no fault of their own, the service was terrible. Staff seemed to be rushed off their feet but not in a good way. We arrived at 7:45 and didn't get asked for our drinks order until 8:15. I had to ask whether it was table service as we weren't given a menu or acknowledged for the first half an hour.

The staff were unable to be attentive, no one asked if we wanted any more drinks while we were there. No one asked whether we needed any sauces with our food and no one asked if 'everything was okay?'.

I was unable to enjoy the food as I felt my family and I were completely ignored and quite frankly an inconvenience.

I didn't think the food was anything special if I was to compare it to other local gastro pubs in the area but maybe this was due to a terrible start to our time there.

Toilets inside were dirty. Such a shame as our surroundings were lovely, inside and out. If your toilets are kept dirty, how clean is the kitchen?

The main advice would be to get more staff and/or redistribute them to cover where is busiest in the pub as we were sitting outside. Customer service is imperative to any business especially first impressions. Have someone there to properly meet and greet people and at least get the basics right. Our table was just pointed out, we weren't even led to it. I even had to double check which one was being referred to.

At the end of our dinner I actively went and asked for the bill as our plates hadn't been cleared away and I couldn't wait any longer as I just wanted to leave.

I won't be visiting again as there are too many other similar pubs in the area that are being run a lot better.

The mill itself is a wonderful building (I've been visiting for over 50 years) and in the most recent refurbishment they have not lost the charm of what makes it so special.

We visited with friends for a weekday lunch. Unfortunately the overwhelming impression was another disappointing, expensive meal at a pub. The story of 2024 it seems. I appreciate that pubs have struggled with rising costs, but serving up things which are clearly designed to try and hide the lack of value does not seem a long term answer to me.

Had falafels (described as a sharing plate). Three very small (but good) falafels per plate (always strikes me as odd to serve an odd number of items on a sharing plate - aren't most groups even numbers?).

A couple of us had pies. My steak and ale pie was a small (chip shop sized) pie of very average flavour and it was a case of playing find the meat swimming in a pie full of gravy. Remaining meals were OK, but no more.

2 falafels, 1 olives, 4 mains, 1 small wine, 1 pint, 4 coffees -£120 + service charge (12.5%). Comparable to other pubs in the wider area, but not value given the quality.

Service was very efficient (attentive and observant server), but without a trace of warmth or hospitality.

Sadly won't be likely to return in a hurry.

My "atmosphere" score is based on the place itself and that we quite liked it being quiet (no background music...

We visited on Sunday (yesterday) at 17.30 we had to wait a little while to be seen as the staff seemed extremely busy. We ordered a Roast pork dinner and was surprised when it appeared on our table in less than a few minutes. The dinner wasn't particularly hot, luke warm at best and the potatoes cold, Yorkshire pudding was hard and cold too. It tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp and the Yorkshire pudding added at the last minute after sitting cold. If it had just been served fresh im sure it would of been much hotter! The staff were running around as they had a big table to serve and all staff seemed to be allocated there so trying to catch someones attention to ask for my dinner to be hotter was difficult and so we failed. After a while some of it was inedible especially the Yorkshire pudding and potatoes the cauliflower cheese was also cold and the cheese had turned hard. We weren't asked if we wanted dessert and to be honest we didnt want to order one or coffee as the staff were extremely busy with the bigger tables. Paid our bill and were left to leave. I can't say the staff were unpleasant but maybe a bit preoccupied with the bigger tables who they seemed to know well. However service was poor as was the quality of food. To be served a Sunday roast within a couple of minutes of taking your coat off and for it to be served lukewarm was so...
