My wife and I popped in on Thursday 6th February 2014 for a quick one course meal as we have several times since moving nearby last year. The place was very quiet, probably because of the heavy rain outside. We ordered a medium rump steak each and it was served by a very pleasant waitress. The meat turned out to be close to 50% gristle when we tried to cut into it and actually made my hand ache from trying to saw through it. The waitress agreed that it was inedible - she referred to it as "Minging" and went to ask the duty manageress if we could have a refund. When she returned, the waitress said that we could have a free dessert or coffee. I said we did not want either as we only ever have a single course and that what we had been presented with was inedible. She then took the plates away to show the manager. When she came back she reiterated what the manager had already said. I told her that this is what I would call appalling Customer Service and that we were not at all happy. The fact that the manager was so unconcerned about serving this muck and too idle to even come and see us speaks volumes for the standard of the management at The White House. We will not be visiting again, ever. Although they probably won't miss it, we have spent an average of £74.00 a month there since we started using The White House last summer. This will now go towards other local establishments that might actually appreciate our custom. This was not the first duff meal we have had here, but in the past we have always received a replacement meal or a voucher to use next time we visit. If you have read down to here, I thank you. You now have the choice of eating there and running a risk of receiving poor quality food around 2 times in every 10 visits, or doing what we have, by voting with your feet / tyres and giving the place a wide berth. In case anyone from Wetherspoons reads this and thinks it is made up, our receipt was from Till 2, number 69/2639 at 17:21 on Thursday 6th...

EDIT! Due to how poorly I am had to get a doctor out who's admitting me to hospital due to dehydration & Food Poisoning/SALMONELLA!! This is from the Eggs here at the White House! I will be contacting them to tell them just how poorly I am & i will be writing a letter of complaint to Head Office!! I am so angry, disappointed & damn right sick because the chefs clearly didn't prepare the Eggs properly, clean hands?? I just don't know what they did or didn't do. Me being ill is due to this food as I didn't eat yesterday due to going out...my weekend RUINED!! I also deduct 1 star, it would be 0 stars but I can't do that. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Food; NOT GOOD!! I ordered 5oz Gammon with that u get 2 eggs & chips, no sort of presentation just thrown on the plate. Gammon dry over cooked & seemed like it been left out for a while,re-heated chips YUK 1 Egg way over cooked 1 egg looked under cooked. I couldn't eat my dinner & then I've been up all night with a really bad belly. Hubby had mixed grill, large, it wasn't a large he didn't get all that was stated on the menu, we didn't complain as I was too angry to stay around. £30 wasted!! 2** purely for the pubs looks, lovely inside & out but I'll never go there again. I might even report them to the food agency due to how bad the food was. I wonder how many more ppl feel like I do this morning?!? Sorry white house but your food is no where near up to scratch. SACK YOUR...

So went here today with my two friends and their children and my little 5month baby..firstly it was sooooo hot in the pub that it was horrible!! When asked to switch it off the waitress said head office have classed now as winter??! Um it’s still Autumn!! So was annoyed that they had no control on the heating. Order food.. fine.. mains came out before starter.. so had to send the mains back! Got my lasagna and the tomato sauce didn’t taste right.. was horrible to be fair.. went to the bar to see if I could change my meal to something else which I thought would be normal practice in restaurants. The reply I got back was the kitchen chef has said no. But more than welcome to order something else but you have to pay for it!! I thought this was appalling!! Not even offered refund!! I didn’t even eat the food!! I asked another waiter about speaking to a manager and response was they were busy going into a ‘staff meeting’ and they would call me back!! What kind of customer service is that?? I’m still waiting for my call back!! Appalling service, food was rubbish and after reading other reviews here I reckon they need a new chef!! Will not recommend and will not be returning!! Oh also our babies all left with such red cheeks as it was so hot!!...

Fantastic Wetherspoons, friendly staff, good beer, nice food. Lovely and interesting building and large garden (see photos). It's a big building with plenty of seating indoors and as much again in the huge garden. Some outdoor tables have gazebos over them do even if it rains you'll be fine. You can also have a walk around the village, look at the church and feed the ducks (although the pond is a bit hard to find). Which will help burn off those Wetherspoons calories/meals. For science lessons please visit foxteach. Enjoy your visit to "The White House" and walk around Scraptoft, we traveled a good distance to get there and it was worth it! 🙂🍺🍝🥘 Enjoy!

I pop in here with a mate to see what it like after not going in here for a fair few years now. This now Weatherspoon pub has a lovely atmosphere and a great beer garden. This pub has been a public house and hotel since 1950, when it was bought by the Northampton Brewery Company. Until then, the Georgian-style building had been a private residence, built in 1928 for a Mr TH Crumbie. The stone for the White House came from Normanton Hall, demolished two years earlier. The Hall stood 25 miles away on the southern shore of what is now Rutland Water (a reservoir and popular tourist attraction created in the 1970s). A nice place and a good Weatherspoon pub.

We visited The White House in August 2023. The pub is a beautiful 1920s building, with a huge and elegantly decorated interior with a variety of different seating areas. To the rear is a massive beer garden stretching around the side of the pub and to the front is the largest free car park we’ve encountered at a JD Wetherspoon pub yet! Check out our website or visit our socials (@wethowanderers) to read our full review of the pub!
