At the end of the road to nowhere, lies a small unassuming pub ( not the Slaughtered Lamb). On the night I visited, it all started off quite nice and quiet with one lad at the bar chatting away to Jack ( the barman) and another lady. I sat with my friend, catching up on times. It got more interesting as a group of lads came in. All of them were super nice and chatty. I even managed to rope one into singing in the pub as a penalty for dropping a glass. All in all I had rather a nice evening and I even managed to survive the Arctic tundra that is the toilets. You could say I rose to the challenge, however I shrunk as soon as I walked in. The bar staff were nice and the people that were there were nice. I may wait for the warm weather before my next...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHadn't planned to stop but after a decent walk past New Mills golf club & along various public footpaths we arrived in Broad bottom about 1.15pm so decided to stop & have something to eat & a drink. Three fishing sandwich, chips, coleslaw and salad meals, one jacket potato with tuna, mayo and cheese...as it wasn't that chilly we decided to eat outside (the landlord said if we were too cold just come inside...log fire burning). Food was freshly cooked, hot, tasty and lots of it. Couple of pints of Strongbow, a pint of IPA and a bottle of zero alcohol beer. Really welcome break to the walk and after we finished we were ready to hit the road again. Great pit stop, highly recommend it to you if...

It's got a limited food selection of sandwiches & basic hot food meals which are very filling for a decent price. We had the beef madras with rice & naan bread with my partner having the same but with chips. Washed down with a nice local ale although there's a decent selection of other beer, lager & cider. All at a fair price! It's a perfect stop off for the weary walkers & it's dog friendly too. This is a pub to be savoured as a flashback to how small country pubs used to be 30 to 40 years ago, which is...
