A Bit Disappointed I'm not a fan of writing bad reviews and before I continue it wasn't all bad it was just some things that I think for a restaurant of this quality can do a lot better. Firstly the good - Lovely polite service and a lovely place - wonderful atmosphere. The bad - For starter i had the patรฉ. This was nice but what was served with it was lazy. 4 slices of baguette threw on a plate. Not even warmed and no butter. When the patรฉ is as good as it was then the sides have to compliment the dish not make it worse. The chutney was over powering and took the taste away from the patรฉ so all you can taste is chutney even when using the tiniest bit.

Main Course i had the burger which was overcooked and dry.

Desert i went for cheeseboard - this took almost an hour to come and the cheeses were cold straight out of the fridge - cheese needs to be room temp especially stilton and brie - again no butter served with the crackers and the same chutney that was served with the pate which over powered the cheese.

I took the family with me and all their dishes were fine - the shepherds pie was lovely and so was the beef stew. So like i said this wasn't all bad.

I fell because we did the set menu a lot less care was taken than it would have been had we paid full price. If I had paid full price for what i had then i would have complained on the night. I'm not one for complaining at source as it can be demoralizing especially if the guys are busy.

For a restaurant that has some very good reviews I expected a little better in terms of quality. instead of cheap baguette with the patรฉ some nice slightly toasted sour dough with a bit of olive oil drizzle or butter would be better.

I haven't decided if we will return yet but is was very...

Well, it looks quite small from the front but far from it. There is plenty of outside space and carpark.

Inside staff are really friendly and they a good choice of alcohol free drinks available.

We came on a Sunday so went for the Sunday lunch. Unfortunately, I only got a pic of the starter as I was too excited when lunch came out. My partner had the carrot and coriander soup. Great fresh flavour and a nice peppery finish. I had smoked salmon with pink grapefruit, and it was flavourful and fresh and really great combination.

We had mixed roast with pork and beef. It came with the most delicious braised red cabbage, and it had a fruity twang. Pork was by far the best I have had in a while. Full of flavour and juicy. Yorkshire pudding was light and crispy. The potatoes were....oh my goodness.....so good crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. All the veg were cooked and seasoned really well, and we opted for broccoli cheese. I have to say again, really nice flavour of cheese, which sounds ridiculous but often doesn't have a cheesy flavour. Really throughly enjoyed and will be going again.

Dessert was so good. I had sticky toffee pudding and the sponge was light but slightly burnt on the bottom which effected the taste a bit. Sauce was sweet and icecream was amazing....salted caramel which had crispy bits in. My partner had the raspberry cheesecake woth basil and it was incredible. Super creamy and sweet and fresh with this light undertone of refreshing basil. Would have that again in a heart beat. Overall a really great meal with a few flavour twists that we really enjoyed and...

My better half and I decided that we wanted a night to ourselves having not had much private time. We decided on Hercules Revived for a nice dinner. Unfotunatley, there were a number of issues with the food. To start, the scallops did not taste fresh. They tasted fishy but we thought we would let this slide and continue to have a nice night.

When the 2 x Sirloin Steaks came out they were grey, dry, chewy and not cooked to how we had asked. We asked for these to be changed which they were however the ones that came were identical. When we have been approached by who i think was the manager at the time he has explained that due to the steaks being "28 day aged" they aren't able to get the pink colouring inside. This was then followed up by "these aren't supermarket steaks" and continued to use a patronising tone like the only steaks we knew were supermarket steaks.

I could cook better steaks using 28 day aged steaks from the supermarket!

We were also told that they recieve this feedback alot about their steaks. If this is the case then something surely isnt right with your process or your supplier.

Unfortunatley, this left a bitter taste in our mouth and the steaks just were not good enough for the price in which being sold. The patronising attitude of the manager and the fishy scallops left us leaving feeling deflated on what should have been a night full of laughter and nice food.

Although the steaks were refunded, we were disappointed as just wanted a nice night with some delicious food. We left feeling frustrated and offended and was not the night we...

Oh. My. Word! My brother and his wife told us about this place, so we decided to take them there for a nice dinner. I cannot say enough about how amazing this meal was! First of all, on Monday nights, they have a deal where you can get a main course plus a starter for 19 GBP, or 23 GBP for a starter, main course and dessert. It's a tiny bit more limited than the main menu, but not much. Even without that, the prices are great (I think the most expensive item I saw was about 24 GBP). We got the soup of the day (leek and potato with a hunk of crusty bread) and it was delicious. We also got the mushroom and garlic cream over toast and YUM! We got a burger, a lamb burger, fish and chips, and the braised beef stew. Plus, they do special orders for people with specific dietary needs. My sister-in-law has celiacs disease, and they made a beautiful meal for her. We had a red velvet brownie with white chocolate ice cream, and a delicious key lime cheesecake for dessert, as well as a few affogatto's (sp?). The service was wonderful, the restaurant was beautiful, and so was the surrounding area. We are here on vacation from America, but when we get this way again, we will DEFINITELY be eating here again. Thank you for a fabulous meal and a fabulous experience.

Where to begin with one of the best restraunts I have every been too. I have eaten here many times and it is never a dissapointment. There attention to detail and service is amazing, and you feel very welcom as you enter this breathtaking pub / restraunt. It is nestled in a quaint little village of Sutton Cheney with views over the beautiful church grounds and roling english fields to the back. The food is exceptional with a great selection of choices. I would say spend extra time on the Starters and Deserts as they are absolutley amazing. One of our favorite things to order is the wide cut chips and the blue cheese sauce to dip in! I had the burger for lunch today and my wife had the tomato pesto baquette. They both were so good and enjoyed the atmosphere of te restraunt as well. If you are near Sutton Cheney do not miss this restaurant and have a marvelous meal.
