I must say that we were positively surprised by this pub. Stepping in felt like stepping in a time capsule back to 1999, which we liked. The pub looks like it has been lived in for a long time. It has a hidden decking facing the church which is much better then the one that faces the road. The food was surprisingly good even you can see that there are not a lot of people opt to eat there. A proper old school pub in a tiny village. I hope it survives.

Excellent olde worlde roadside country pub. Very friendly and helpful landlady and a good choice of ales including one from the (very) nearby Firebird Brewery. No giant pub garden but a small decked area out the back with a good view of the Norman village church and a very floral outside drinking area at the front. Recommend the vegetarian Heidi pie.

had a wonderful dinner with my mum and great aunt and uncle. very nice mellow place service wasn't horrible but the young girls could probably use a bit more practice on hosting. need to see some more smiles too, cozy little place like that shouldn't have frowning faces, the one girl(blond) very pretty and has a beautiful smile but it sure disappears in a hurry and the other young girl wouldn't smile at all very disappointing (work shouldn't be a chore it should be fun). the french lady was very nice spent a few moments talking after our peek at the church, cant say i provided a stimulating conversation with my one word answers but i tried :). the man running the place was nice but seemed to be very busy kind of unusual when you have 3-4 sets of hands in a little place like this and only half full of people or less. more important note the cod and chips was very nice, on my way back though i will definitely have to stop in to try the rest of the menu :). Good work lovely...

I love a proper pub and this is a PROPER pub. My wife and I popped in on Saturday night for a couple of drinks before dinner. We were only visiting for one night and yet were treated with great hospitality.

We were made extremely welcome by the landlord, landlady and locals. I had two things happen that I NEVER experienced in a pub before - the landlord proactively changed a beer that was fine but, as the last in the barrel, not as good as he clearly wanted it to be.

He then put a new beer on and gave me a half on the house! A man who clearly loves his beer and values those who also love it! No wonder it's in the Good Beer Guide.

I hope this pub thrives in the way this landlord and landlady deserve and that Rudgwick continues to have a proper pub for...

We were staying locally and wanted a good country pub to nourish us with good food and drink...The Kings Head did just that 😁 The staff were so accommodating to vegetarian food requests, the views of the church, the flowers and the wonderful feel of the ancient pub were incredible.

We felt welcomed in a local where we quite obviously weren't local and loved the feel of the place. It wasn't fancy food, but it was good tasty pub grub in a wonderful environment and atmosphere, just what we wanted. Many thanks to all the staff...
