Went there today, we booked for 1.30pm but got a call a few days before asking us of we could come at 2pm. There were six of us, the table was two tables put together and one of our party was sitting behind a 'piller' and couldn't see everyone. We placed our order and the waitress then came back to say two of the starters had sold out so we had to choose again. One of our party has a special dietary requirement and ordered a starter but asked for it to come out with the mains. This meal came out with starters and had to be sent back. Starters were ok, nothing special, no nice presentation very bland looking. Mains came out, the chicken was extremely day and the sauce was congealed on top, the battered fish was soggy and not crispy at all. We complained about the chicken and they asked if we wanted something else, we said no. When they came to order desserts they advised that the cheesecake had not set and one item on the menu had sold out. They said that due to the poor first course we could have one dessert free and would not need to pay for the uneaten first course. We ordered desserts the ice cream came out first, we waited and then a few minutes later another dessert came out, we queried that there was a long wait between each dessert coming out and were told 'sorry but we only have one microwave to heat the food up'. This is shocking to think that the meals are heated in a microwave. We were offered complimentary coffee but when the bill came they had not deducted the dessert. When this was queried there was an argument about it and they were very reluctant to deduct this from the bill. In the end they did take it off. We will definitely not be coming back here. If you like microwave meals this is the...

First time going to The Queens Head for a nice dinner and will probably not order to eat there ever again to be honest.

Though I will say that the starters were amazing!! Specifically the Fried squid and whitebait. The tartare sauce was delightful and really light, and the batter was crispy.

Not only that, but the service was a solid 10/10. Really polite and friendly, and catered to our needs swiftly.

But unfortunately I was quite disappointed with my main, King Prawn and chorizo tagliatelle with some bread. Which seemed the most appealing on the menu at first, but as it was placed on the table…. There’s just no words really, the photo speaks for itself. The pasta was overcooked by a year and the prawns were just about cooked.

I know I can’t expect much from pub food but still.

It also came out almost less than lukewarm, but asked to heat it up and it was alright after. (Had to have my boyfriend’s Mum’s Pepper Pot Beef heated up too, and the mashed potatoes with her dish was literally just MASHED potatoes, not as creamy and soft as you’d think. Might have actually just been instant mash now that I’m thinking about it.) Nonetheless, I still didn’t eat much of my main.

Would probably be best getting the Cod, Chips and Peas, as it’s the best main I’ve seen come out. Along with the Pulled...

Nice pub but we were a bit disappointed with the service. We were a party of 10 and booked in advance as we were celebrating a birthday. Firstly we couldn't all have the starters that we wanted as they didn't have everything on the menu then the chap went away before taking the main order and again when we ordered mains were told there were other items from the standard menu not available! Had we been told this at the beginning of the evening we probably would have gone elsewhere. We then had one person who's starter didn't arrive and had to wait despite the fact that we checked we had ordered 10 starters and 10 mains and then the exact same thing happened with the main we had to wait for one. Some of us ordered the Katsu chicken as we had seen others eating it when we arrived and it looked yummy but when ours arrived it was a very different looking dish, not what the others had eaten at all. Then to top it all we had been told there was no pizza but others were being served pizza as we left. The landlady did take off the cost of one meal for the poor service but even so we were all left quite flat and it spoiled...

Disappointing. It was a Monday night and whilst reasonably busy we weren't expecting to have to wait 1h15 for our food. There were two of their menu items not available which on a small menu section does cut options down. After ordering, we subsequently heard other tables being told there were specials (we hadn't been offered any). The fish and chips didn't come with the minted pea purée that was advertised, only frozen peas and we had to ask for the advertised tartar sauce. The Smoked Haddock, Chorizo and Spring Onion Fishcakes had salami instead of chorizo and no signs of spring onions. The mussels had several which were closed and a sorry amount of ciabatta instead of the advertised sourdough. Won't be going back.

I recently visited The Queen's Head in Barns Green, and I have to say, it was one of the best roasts I've had in a long time! The portion was generous, with an abundance of perfectly cooked vegetables that really made the meal stand out. The flavors were spot on! To top it off, I indulged in the jam sponge with custard for dessert, and it was absolutely amazing. The sponge was light and fluffy, and the jam added the perfect touch of sweetness, complemented perfectly by the custard. Overall, a fantastic experience – delicious food, friendly service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!
