Chilli is amazing, especially with the garlic bread to dip in it. Lot's of ales on. Friendly landlord and landlady. Large scruffy beer garden. Perfect pub

A beautiful traditional pub with a great atmosphere. The food is always excellent and a good range of beers and ciders available

Old Hooker. Not one I’ve had before but very good. Makes a change to find an array of beers that aren’t too hoppy.

We arrived on a sunny Sunday lunchtime to find only a couple of cars in the car park. We cycled around the back and assumed the place had shut. The huge garden was almost empty, the tables were scattered everywhere, umbrellas on the floor, overgrown gas patio heaters and just a general air of decrepitude. The lovely building is looking rather sorry for itself with a roof that has so many tiles missing it surely cannot be watertight.

Anyway, we went inside, through the conservatory filled with dead pot plants and found that it was open and was serving food.

I have really mixed feelings about this place. On one hand the owners were very friendly, there was a wide selection of beers and ciders and the ones that we tried were well kept. The food is very basic and, with the exception of the home made chilli, clearly bought in and heated up. It is however, cheap for this area, with the most expensive dish being less than £9. Many pubs locally charge that for a starter!

On the other hand this place reeks of lost opportunity. The whole place could be very special with a fabulous garden overlooking fields. It just needs (quite) a bit of work and investment but has all the potential to be a little gold mine.

Most pubs locally are turning people away on a...

Really nice homely little pub for a bit of a Sunday lunch catch up with our English friends. Very simplistic food menu but we were able to try out three different dishes between us: Vegan chilli, Ploughmans with cheddar cheese (different options available) and Sausages with mash/peas (chips/beans could be opted for). All three were super delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. Very good value for money Service was excellent, really friendly and welcoming. Super efficient and helpful. Alcohol free drink options available, wine and beer. Try the Fever Tree Mexican Lime Soda, totally...

Excellent Staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived at 2 not knowing they shut at 2.30. Regardless we were welcomed. Sat inside and had a drink and ordered a second. At this point they realised we were not from the area so advised they were closing shortly but we were welcome to have the drinks and move to thier garden at closing time and stay for as long as we want. Even offered another round if we wanted. At closing time the pub was locked and the owner left saying enjoy yourselves. That is what I call excellent service. Will come back again when...
