We booked a pod last minute as something a little different for my daughter's 6th birthday (lucky her!) The service I will say was brilliant considering ew were outside on a cold night, the staff were attentive and warm The pub had just launched a new menu and had some nice specials. I had the baked egg which was delicious, i just wish the yolk was still runny would be my only thing, but it was seasoned perfectly, for my main course I had Thai Mussels which was on the specials board and were absolutely perfect. huge plump, fresh mussels and a fragrant perfectly seasoned sauce, with delicious fresh bread and crunch fries to accompany. My husband had Lamb Scrumpet, which he liked but thinks it would have been better if the lamb was not smoked, but we feel this is personal opinion, he had a Beef Pie for his main which was a good portion and well cooked, he said. The children both had hummus and crudités to start and my son had a chicken burger and fries, I think peas is a strange add to this and as aa strapping 10 year old, was probably aimed at a much younger child, but he largely enjoyed it, he helped me with my very generous portion of mussels though. My draught had a generous portion of tomato pasta with garlic bread, it as nice but not notable if that makes sense. Perhaps the children's menu could be slightly better would be my observation or have a little more attention. We had a side of black pudding croquettes which were OK, they sounded amazing but were just OK, too much potato and not enough black pudding which meant they didn't hold firm - it as the first night so perhaps they will get tweaked. Still giving the food five stars as it was all fresh and had the right idea! We didn't have pudding as we had birthday cake waiting at home, but they did look delicious on the menu. There was a good selection of beer and reasonable selection of wine to accompany the lovely menu All in all a lovely experience, I would recommend and would love to also experience the pub itself next time (we hadn't been in years), the dome was a lovely thing to do in this instance, as something different for the children but the warm and cost pub also felt very inviting! the pods are fab for a celebration or something a little different but you obviously miss out on the atmosphere. See you soon!

Excellent date night experience all around! We arrived a touch past our reservation time, but the staff was gracious and seated us immediately. Very friendly, with the perfect level of attentiveness, not hovering (like is typical in the US, but not ignored either. For starters,we tried the Duck Parcel (AMAZING!) and the Pigeon Breast (also Amazing!) Then moved on to the Main Entrees. I had the Pork Belly, while my wife had the Sea Bass. DELICIOUS! We finished the meal off with a Bailey's Creme Brulee and a Roasted Vanilla Cheesecake. The Creme Brulee was my wife's first, and she loved it. The Cheesecake was excellent as well. All in all, a perfect evening, in a cozy, friendly atmosphere, with great service and food. Highly recommended, and can't wait to go back!

The fish on the specials menu and the leg of lamb were cooked to perfection! Paid extra for booking the pod and here’s why you lost a star.. the music box in the pod was busted, the batteries in the tiny tree decor needed replacement, hence unlit..and the table candle remained unlit as well. The pod was too warm and the temperature controls didn’t work. We had to keep the window cracked throughout. Not nitpicking, but if someone pays extra for booking a pod, the least that can be done is to perform a quick check prior to the service. The sticky toffee pudding was scrumptious, though! Will be back.. but not for the pod.

Visited recently with a group for a birthday meal, atmosphere was nice and food was generally of a good quality but even with the eat out to help out discount I really did not feel it was worth the money

First whilst most of my party had the £7.50 small bowl of pea soup myself and a friend had the smallest portion of Calamari I have ever seen. In all there was 6 of the smallest pieces of calamari I have ever seen which consisted more of batter than shellfish. It was meant to be shaved fennel not shaved calamary, Yes it was perfecty cooked but there as such a small amount it was unbeleivable.

Generally my whole party agreed that the only starter that was worth having was the duck parcel.

For mains most of us had the steaks, of which there was only one choice a 9oz sirloin. The steaks all had good flavour but it looks like they ended up on the wrong plates, My friend got my medium rare whilst my wife got his medium done. In all with a few chips this was £24.95 about £7-£8 more than other local pub/steak places.

One of our party had the cod, which was again perfecty cooked but had very little taste and consisted of a peace of fish no bigger than 2 chunky fish fingers.

When we got to deserts, again it was a similiar story, great flavour but over £6 for 3 small scoops off icecream. I am glad I went for a malt whisky which was like most things costs about 25% more than it should have been.

In all, Lovely staff, great presentation and flavours but down to portion size and costs in my opinion just not...

Ordered a few weeks in advance. Large group of friends with different experiences and backgrounds - this a consistent view of our experience here, some opinion some fact. Wrong orders coming out. Cold food, cold meat pies, disconcerting. Meagre portions which is fine if the food is good but it was so blah, barely any proper taste going on. Veg? An economic way to put on a plate to give taste, colour, health, but this was minimal. Find the carrot not my kind of game. Teaspoon o hummus for the bairn. No veg on the main. Dry & slightly burnt potato brick (forget the menu term) next to the cod. Super noodles would be an improvement on those that came with the celeriac. What's this dish all about? Arancini were good, but this is difficult to mess up. The waiting staff were as is often the case helpful and attentive and positive, and polite when they needed to be. Hope they get the tip, fear they won't. It's clear the kitchen can't handle the covers available even indoors, I imagine it would go downhill once diners are eating outside too. It's astonishing there's a large brand on the back of this level of dining. Think we're probably done here. Pizza in then. And all for just shy of £100 for 2 adults & 1 child Inc just a pot...
