Visited on a Friday lunchtime to take advantage of the offer on fish & chips. 2 large fish, chips and peas are available for £22.00. A smaller portion is also available for £16.00 for two. Other offers are available on other days of the week and they do a set course lunch menu menu from Wednesday to Friday with 2 courses at £14.00 and 3 courses at £18.00.

Decent sized portions and the food was piping hot. Very good value for money and would recommend.

Service was also good. I ordered the Mandarin and Pantone trifle for dessert at £6.75. I was a little disappointed with it. I expected the cream and the custard to be a lot thicker and firmer. They were a little bit runny. However, the main bit of the trifle was very tasty. I mentioned that I wasn’t over keen on the trifle and one of our servers said he would take it off the bill. I didn’t accept that as there was nothing wrong with the dessert. It tasted fine. It was just I’m used to trifle made a certain way. Still it was a nice gesture from our server to try and rectify the issues without hesitation.

I liked the layout of the pub. Wide variety of different seating options and, although the pub is not the most plush or modern inside, I’m sure most people would find a comfortable seat and table.

There is a car park to the side of the pub but there is space for 3 to 4 cars right outside the front door and we managed to get a spot there. Disabled access looked good. No steps into the pub and two doorways with double wide opening swing doors given plenty of room to get in. Didn’t see any steps inside but didn’t fully check this out.

Based on this visit would be more than happy to visit again for a lunch time meal if we were...

Very busy which is always a good sign. The food was good, the prices are high but being such a popular restaurant I can understand that.

There did seem to be more of a concentration on drinks service than food service, but it was 7:30pm so perhaps it's advisable to try and book in earlier. The red/yellow token system is a nice idea but didn't work on the day, it was busy but waitresses walking past the table didn't notice the tokens.

Tapas was delicious although some were smaller than expected, I recommend the bucket of chicken wings as you do get a decent quantity for that one. I had the duck breast for a main and it was lovely but the portions aren't large.

The Healy's Mess dessert was not to my taste, I would've liked more brownie and meringue as opposed to almost a sweet yogurt with berries, I will be trying another dessert next time.

Overall, enjoyable good food and the lady on front of house was very friendly and accommodating, she sorted out a minor hiccup in the kitchen very swiftly which was greatly appreciated. We will be back again in...

This was my first visit since it turned into a ’restaurant'. I'm a down to earth type of guy, I'm not stuck up, but I wasn't impressed. We pre booked and pre ordered the food and still had a 90 minute wait. I thought the drinks were above average prices. The girl serving our table was just miserable. We had 4 tables pushed together to accommodate us, three of these tables were different heights. In addition to this they were placed around a post which effectively cut off half of our party. We ordered a tapas selection which was ok but bland, nothing special. The host fella that greeted us was polite but a bit scruffy. I think with a bit better organisation this could be better. It felt hallway in-between just pub food and small restaurant so it's difficult to categorize. I think the tables adjacent to the bar clutter the layout and I'm glad we weren't sat there. Sadly I'm not in a...

The food was fantastic, one of the best steak burgers & chips ever. Unfortunately the service was a big let down. On arrival drinks came quick and main course around 20 mins of ordering. The service went downhill after that. We asked for a dessert menus, disappointingly they never arrived, after 15 mins of waiting we had to go to the bar and ask for the menus. After being given the menus none of the staff came and took our order so we just gave up and paid the bill. We were looking forward to ordering desserts and more drinks, but nobody came and asked. The table opposite also complained that they had ordered drinks and they were still waiting, when they did get them the white wine was warm with sitting on the bar. The service is a big shame as the food is excellent, maybe the restaurant doesn’t need additional sales.
