I recently had the pleasure of dining at Allium Restaurant in Downham Market, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! From start to finish, every aspect of our experience was simply outstanding.
Let's start with the star of the show: the Sunday roast. It was nothing short of perfection. The tender, succulent meat, accompanied by a medley of perfectly roasted vegetables and fluffy Yorkshire puddings, made for a heavenly combination. Each bite was bursting with flavor and left us craving for more. The attention to detail and the culinary expertise displayed in this dish truly set Allium apart.
But the goodness didn't stop there. The starters we ordered were equally impressive. The flavors were bold and unique, and the presentation was top-notch. Each dish showcased the chef's creativity and passion for culinary excellence. It was evident that only the finest ingredients were used, resulting in a symphony of flavors that left our taste buds dancing with joy.
One aspect that truly amazed us was the exceptional value for money. Despite the high-quality food and impeccable service, the prices were surprisingly reasonable. Allium manages to strike the perfect balance between affordability and gourmet dining, making it an absolute gem for anyone looking for a memorable meal without breaking the bank.
Moreover, I want to commend the restaurant's booking system. Despite being a busy day, with it being Father's Day and all, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our family party. Their professionalism and attentiveness ensured that our celebration was seamless and memorable. The entire staff was warm, friendly, and efficient, further enhancing our overall dining experience.
In conclusion, Allium Restaurant in Downham Market deserves every bit of praise it receives. The Sunday roast was faultless, the starters were exceptional, the value for money was remarkable, and the booking system was efficient. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone in search of a culinary adventure that will leave you with a smile on your face and a...
Read moreWe came here for my husband’s birthday after seeing it rated as a top dining spot in Downham Market, but sadly we left very disappointed.
Service was poor from the start – we sat with empty dishes and glasses while people who arrived after us were served their starters and mains first. Our wine was placed on the table but not poured for tasting, and the glasses weren’t even filled properly.
The food was very hit and miss. The fish dishes were lovely, but the chicken was extremely overcooked while the vegetables were practically raw. When I complained, I was told “that’s how we cook it” – which is simply not acceptable. If this is meant to be fine dining, then basic cooking standards need to be addressed.
When we asked to speak to the manager, he was rude, dismissive, and blamed how busy they were. That’s not an excuse. If you want to be “top dining,” staff need proper training and management needs to step up.
All we received was a reduced bottle of wine, rude looks, and excuses. Overall, the experience was far from what you’d expect from a highly rated restaurant. Definitely not...
Read moreWe were packed in like sardines in the restaurant made to feel like we were going through menopause it was so hot too many tables you couldn’t move let alone have a conversation and hear the other person. Service was absolutely appalling. Chef kept coming out and walking around you would think that Would be okay if food was coming out quickly but no took over an hour to get out starters. Which were tasteless and horrible. Main courses were terrible the duck was bland and overpriced was not happy could get better cut at tesco. The lamb was overcooked and sauce was sweet and too much. Service was terrible as the girls were so young and seemed there was no one running and leading the floor very unprofessional. The owner didn’t really care and I have noticed that she is not a nice women and clearly does not take criticism well as one of her responses online was absolutely appalling and disgusting. Feels like a pop up restaurant in...
