We visited this fabulous restaurant for the first time this evening, it was my birthday yesterday 26/8/25 we were busy all day so decided to visit today. We were given a very warm welcome, and shown to our table, we were assigned a young waitress who was very helpful and friendly. My wife has had 80% of her stomach removed and can't eat much. A lot of places don't understand this, however our waitress did. Along with usual poppadom and chutney tray We had the midweek special, samosas and chicken tikka starter... The onions were the best I've ever tasted (cooked in the meat juices?) I had chicken bunha and special rice.... Absolutely incredible my wife had chicken tikka masala and we shared a keema nan. The meal was the best, a lot of places we go to are overloaded with salt, not here though, it was spot on and made a change not to be salty. As I mentioned my wife can't eat much and left just about all of hers. We asked to take it home in containers to eat tomorrow.... Again no problem it was taken away and bought back in take away trays. All in all this was a fabulous experience, we will most definitely be coming back. My advice if you want a great meal, give Downham Tandoori a try, you will not be disappointed! Thanks again to the staff, it made my birthday week celebrations...
Read moreNot recommended. Blandest food. Had takeaway birthday curry for 3 last night. Been looking forward to it for days Disappointed is an understatement! The 3 curries, Prawn Bhuna, Dopiaza & Rogan Josh were completely tasteless. Translucent watery sauces were the same curry with slightly different spices. The amount of spices used was minimal as there was no heat, at all, in any of them. There were no rich colours that a curry should have, it was light brown/greyish bland. Mushroom rice was bland too. Onion bhajis were cold and tasted like they'd been sitting on the side for ages. Garlic naan was...oh was that 'garlic' naan, we missed the garlic, it was just naan & cold. We ended up binning some and that never happens. I can cook tastier curry at home. Such a shame as the other reviews were ok and we though we'd found our new local Indian. They were quick at preparing and price was fine(if it had been good). Will not be going back...
Read moreVery disappointed, I rarely give poor reviews, this is an exception 🙁 The prices in the restaurant were around %15 higher than those published on their website. Good service initially, then when all the mains were served, I had to ask twice and wait 5 minutes for my side dishes to arrive. The service was slow and no one checked to see how our food was - it was not good. My chicken Zal Zul (Madras Hot), was like a Chinese sweet and sour - when I complained about the total lack of chilli heat, I was told I "oh, it's not hot at all - you should ask me if you want it hot, then I'll tell Chef." Guess what, no one asked me when I ordered it. The table was never cleared, we had to sit for the last 15 minutes with the evenings beer bottles and unfinished food sitting in front of us. Having spent around £80 we felt let down. I think we'll try the smarted looking one, a few doors...
