My partner Alyssa and I had a delicious meal at Freebridge Farm, it was a last minute thing, and we were delighted by the warm welcome we received especially from Chantal our lovely Waitress who was friendly and very attentive throughout, after we were seated which only took a few minutes wait, I went up to the bar to order, Chantal saw I was at the back of a very long queue and came over to ask if I was paying by cash or card, when I said card, she said no need to wait, I will take your order at your table!
We ordered two Classic Bacon Cheese Burgers with a side of Barbecue Sauce, Skin on Fries and freshly made Coleslaw, also two delicious mocktails called cheekily Cuddles Under the Sun, these arrived almost immediately and the food followed about 12 minutes later !, an amazing feat considering they had just catered unplanned for 140 people staying as a group for a conference at the adjacent Premier Inn
Chantal told us it was very busy but she enjoyed her work, and it showed, everyone was smiling and friendly, no stress evident, though I expect there was plenty in the Kitchen !
The Food was delicious two Burgers in a Brioche Buns, perfectly medium Rare, salad Garnish including Iceberg Lettuce and Red Onion with Sliced Grilled Tomato, and a succulent sweetcure bacon rasher
The Fries were also a delight, perfectly cooked and seasoned and crisp not soggy or soaked in Fat, and the fresh Coleslaw was lovely too We followed this up with a desert of Sticky Toffee Pudding and Custard, which I can only describe as an Epicurean delight
We concluded our lovely meal with two perfect Cappuccinos which came with free refills We spent £25.00 per head which I consider excellent value for money especially with the rise in food prices largely due to fuel costs for transportation
We will definitely return and have already recommended the venue to friends, I will update this review with photos soon
In closing I must also mention the Weekly Special of Wednesday Pie Night, when you can have your choice of Pie from the main menu, served with seasonal Vegetables and Roast or Creamed Potatoes and a Jug of Gravy, then follow it with a choice of four deserts all for £8.99 !, astonishingly Good Value, and we plan to try it next time we are in midweek
Overall a perfect 10, but we can only award five stars which are richly deserved, I hope Chantal and the other Staff and local management will get some recognition for making our visit so special
Julie

Read moreI’ve stayed in countless premier inns and eaten at the adjoining restaurants each time, I’ve had many bad meals, but this one wins the trophy of the worst of them all.
First evening - fish and chips - horrendous, fish not cooked enough, batter resembling a soggy mess, wasn’t even served with proper chips, just skin on fries… what? No slice of lemon… I also had to ask for vinegar twice as some tables have it and some don’t? Same with salt and pepper? Great.
It boggles my mind that you seat people, then tell them they have to order food at the bar… doesn’t make a great deal of sense to me but if the food and service was half decent I wouldn’t moan!
When food is delivered to you they never ask if you want any sauce or condiments.
They also never check on how your meal is, I realise this is because they know it’s TERRIBLE, no need to ask.
Let’s move on to breakfast… everything is lack lustre and cold, many items missing… it’s astonishing how you can both undercook AND overcook an egg? How?
The bacon seems to have been cooked on a radiator. Finding a clean plate and cutlery is a task in and of itself….
No water being served at breakfast, that’s a first for me, every other one I’ve been to has ice and water.
Moving onto my last meal, a mixed grill, hopes were not high, how could they be?
I’m 99% sure they use leftover breakfast sausages for dinner service… excellent!
The steak I was given was inedible, almost broke the plate trying to cut through it, then my jaw trying to eat it.
The under & overcooked eggs made another appearance!
Chicken was dry and bland.
The onion rings were hard inside?! How?! How do you mess up frozen onion rings?!
The gammon was the only nice thing I ate here. I wouldn’t feed half of this crap to my dog.
Once again not asked if I want any sauce by any member of staff. Plus a long wait for food this time.
The fact this place is actually busy boggles my mind!! WHO COMES HERE BY CHOICE?!
If this food wasn’t paid for by my employer, and if I’d of actually parted with my own money for this mess I would’ve got a refund and gone to the adjacent McDonald’s.
The hotels okay though!! Just...
Read moreI wish I could leave zero stars, but I can’t. We are staying in the adjacent Premier Inn, and after checking in, we wanted to pop to the attached pub. Considering your are staying at the side of the A47 next to a service station, your options are limited to this, or an extortionately overpriced soggy sandwich petrol station meal deal. We stood by the “please wait here to be seated” sign for 10 minutes. Approximately 6 members of staff walked past us multiple times. Trust me, I’m not hard to notice. I eventually asked a passing waitress, who was adamant on trying to avoid eye contact as she went by, how much longer we were going to stand there or was there some sort of game I had to play to grab the attention of someone. She said she would go and find a member of staff. I can only assume she went to find the one sole member of staff on site that’s been on the “Brewers Fayre How To Seat New Customers” training course. She hurried off through some doors (I assume into the kitchen). On a concern for welfare note, could you please check any walk in fridges or freezers, because believe it or not, she never returned and I need reassurance she’s okay. Whilst this was going on, a queue of two other couples had formed behind us. I gave them the heads up of what they were about to entail and not to get their hopes up. This has probably somewhat cushioned the ear bashing you were going to receive from them due my pre warning …. you’re welcome. Finally, another female (who I have assumed is the manager due to wearing a different uniform to all the other staff) said she wouldn’t keep us much longer. Our interpretations of “much” obviously vary. After the 15 minute mark we walked out. I can only describe the lack of customer service as totally abysmal. I understand there is being busy, but there was a clear atmosphere of “if I don’t notice it, it’s not my problem” going on here. I know you are both part of the Whitbread Group, but the Brewers Fayre brand at this site is a complete embarrassment, and I feel sorry for the Premier Inn next door being associated in such a way, as they have been nothing short...
