Pearl River Restaurant — Restaurant in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Took the children and one of their friend's as a treat for my daughter's birthday and was charged adult prices for them. When I questioned the bill, I was told that because they were over 12 yrs (they have just turned 13) I had to pay adult prices. I pointed out that it doesn't mention this on their website or menu and when I came two month's earlier for my sons birthday, I was charged for child prices and not adult prices. Apparently they said they made a mistake and I should have been charged adult prices. There is a massive difference between £13.50 for a child and £28.50 for an adult, so I was understandably shocked at the bill. They need to state next to their child price, that there is an age limit. To me, a child is a child, until they reach 16! I'm not a mind reader and if it doesn't state an age limit and just states child/adult prices, then I should have been charged...

Pearl River is a fantastic place to eat, from the initial booking form on the website which is very user friendly to the actual dining experience. The restaurant itself is well lit, spacious and has a lovely ambiance. Not too noisy but too quiet. The staff are very friendly and attentive, always checking to make sure that everything is ok or if more food is required.

The food itself is delicious, freshly prepared and in perfectly sized portions. Enough to allow you to sample plenty of different dishes. They host a decent selection of drinks to with the meal which also helps.

They also get a bonus for still maintaining some Covid-19 safety measures such as clear screens between tables and the staff wearing face masks which adds extra reassurance for those concerned about the pandemic still.

Waited around for almost 5mins to be attended to, the manager walked past without acknowledging their only customer waiting. Eventually seated and had to wait again for ages to be seen by someone meanwhile the manager is walking around to other tables attained by white customers. Pretty much felt aliaenated and unwelcome. I sat there and witnesses this guy go to every single table accept mine and the couple sat behind me, he was very bubbly and charming towards them. When waited around for a long time to get the bill after the terrible food which I barely ate myself after losing my appetite from the poor service.
