Spice Inn — Restaurant in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

First visit to the Spice Inn tonight. I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was nice and chilled, not quite as formal as some curry houses which I preferred. Music wasn't too loud. No alcohol served either which I also preferred, but a nice selection on soft drinks. The food was lovely. All the food we were served wasn't oily at all and packed with flavour. Only one mild criticism was the starters could of been hotter but it didn't let the food down. The nan bread was deluxe, piping hot and fresh. The rice portion was just right and the main dish was spot on. The lamb was tender and flavourful and the sauce was thick and tasty. The waiters were attentive but not overbearing. The tables were nice and clean and well laid out, all in all a very nice meal. the bill fell just shy of £100 for 4 hungry people we all had starters mains rice and 2 nanns. I would go back...

Bad etiquette from one particular waiter who spoilt our evening. We are quite elderly and this waiter, whilst on the phone taking orders, he told us to sit at a table for 2. There was no friendliness or politeness in his tone. We preferred a bigger table and there were several vacant! But we didnt want to make too much a fuss. Then, while we were engrossed trying to choose from the menu, this waiter barged into our personal space and took the plates away without any warning or an 'excuse me please' and we were shocked by this sudden encroachment behaviour! Though he apologised profusely, but by then, the whole event just made me loose my appetite and we left, and went to another restaurant and, believe it or not, we were treated like special guests!! We usually eat in at the Spice Inn and have always really enjoyed the food. It has become apparent that they did not function well under pressure or via online delivered orders. We ordered our food via just eat at 18.19 and it didn't arrive until 20.20. I had to call the restaurant twice. When the food arrived it was only warm. Therefore, we didn't actually eat our food until 21.00. Unfortunately the food was not up to it's usual standard, not much meat in my Husband's curry and the chicken in mine was somewhat tough, although it was very tasty. This is such a shame because the food in the past has been very good. We did notice the last time we ate in the restaurant the menu had changed, so maybe the chef has?
