The manager needs to learn customer relations, she treats mature women like children, the place is full of teenagers very noisey and hard to get a good sleep as they were still leaving at 1.30am in the morning!. Trouble outside both nights, social distancing was a joke. The tables to close, tables near arch near the bar people coming in and nearly touching us, we asked to be moved and was told in a grumpy voice ok, we was then put again to a place people walk by. Tables not wiped down when people left, the female manager we watched walk over push chair in brush bits of with her hand then people sat there. The noise volume very high with all the teenagers. We watch as a girl squeezed out a cloth onto the carpet in front of us and the manager there. They have no masks, no gloves on and use same cloth for tables. They pick napkins used of the floor or what fell of a plate, take pots then go to a bar and pick up a tray of drinks for table service. Wifi was poor as place packed. To register for virus was a app to click in not out, except could not get on app. It was a bit of paper on table to register. The room was nice but 2 inch window gap, the Dyson fan in room useless and noisey. Room stuffy. I am asthmatic and decided to step outside for fresh air to be told like a child to get in and go back to my room as more trouble outside. I was treated like a child by the same manager, she told a door man to make sure I go to bed. I was disgusted been 53years old. I had a teenager approach me soon as I stepped out side asking me how much I charge??? I was devastated. The reception girls where very nice and made sure I was ok. I went to the room and spent most of the night on my inhaler. My partner felt as I did that we was not liked because asking to move tables, as she was not happy with that and could see it in her attitude. The noise all night from teenagers and doors banging, people shouting was terrible. I have stayed there numerous times before the staff are great, all young but amazing. John one of the staff in the bar made us feel welcome, and certainly made us laugh. He as great customer relations and should be the manager not the women, shes got no customer relations, building is not social distancing, no hygiene measures or registering people who enter and leave. The staff work so hard. I can say though john been there about 6 years and he was working so hard, helping people cleaning the lot. Hes polite, jolly, happy, helpful and great customer relations. We heard a few people complaining about the manager. Well done john for making us welcome and helping. 5 stars to john,...
Read moreThe Globe Hotel now holds the accolade of the worst ever Wetherspoons I've had the displeasure of visiting. Dirty, unhelpful staff and an all-round unpleasant experience.
We visited late on Saturday evening and despite there being a number of empty tables (it was fairly quiet), not one of them was clear of glasses and food debris. Considering the size of the establishment and number of tables, this is quite some achievement from the staff. Unless the pub had been recently converted into a glass recycling centre, or the entire population of Norfolk had decided to descend on the venue (and quickly leave in the minutes prior to our arrival) there is no excuse for this level of uncleanliness.
I would be embarrassed as the manager of this Wetherspoons, as the staff showed no urgency in either attempting to clear the mess, or actually serve people at the bar. We were eventually told to form a queue behind the tills rather than stand at the bar as we'd get served quicker, which seems absolutely perplexing to me. A bar is for standing at to be served, and if staff aren't able to easily keep tabs on who's next in a relatively empty pub, maybe they shouldn't be working there.
After asking four times for a tap water and ice, we were told that we needed to help ourselves at the end of the bar. Low and behold when we got there, the water dispenser was completely empty and no glasses were available next to it either (or ice).
The one cask ale available (as the other four advertised and available on the app were taken off) was poorly kept and tepid. This was when I was eventually able to convey my order after repeating it three times to the member of staff behind the bar before it sunk in.
I would reccomend to avoid at all costs, pay the extra and visit an establishment that cares about service and cleanliness. Most people like myself tend to visit a Wetherspoons as "you know what you're going to get", however this particular pub set the previously mediocre bar at a...
Read moreThe Globe Hotel is at the heart of Kings Lynn town centre. Situated on the Tuesday Market Place it stands prominent on the corner. It has all varieties of clientele. Familes, couples, business men/women, singles etc. Food is always good (until today im afraid. Unfortunately i have to say i was a little dissapointed for the first time ever though and i often visit) , hot fresh and well presented. Staff are always polite and willing to help and do all they can for you. Prices are extremely reasonable. Today i had 2 slices of scrambled egg on toast with a drink included ( orange juice but cojld have had a refillable coffee/tea) £2.85!! May 2018. What a bargain. Other prices as an example are large english breakfast £5.10 and you get loads. Struggle to eat it all. They have a very nice garden area with seating for eating/drinking/smoking. Further to the bottom of the garden overlooks the River Ouse. Some great sunsets can be seen from here. Weekend evenings its usually got vast crowds of people having a good time. Even to the point of having queues outside waiting to get in, therr is no charge though as is known for some other venues. Security is good on these kind of nights as they always have doormen on (maybe women but not seen any myself). The actualy hotel rooms i cant comment on im afraid as ive not stayed in one. Living in Kings Lynn myself ive had no need. Parking is payable on the market place £1.80 for an hour other prices/hr im not sure of. There is King Street that runs along the side of it where you may be lucky to get a short term free space if youre lucky. Definitely worth a visit or two if youre in the area. Btw the food today was barely warm. Now considering i very often go in there and have for years i dont think that a one off is...
