The Granary — Restaurant in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Ordered espresso and a sparkling water. The girl had to ask twice before she got it. Then placed the cup on the saucer holding it across the top rim - i.e. bare fingers exactly where my lips would go. I asked her to discard it and make another, whereupon she started making excuses as to why - my wife interrupted & started to explain that this is unhygienic in normal practice - let alone during Covid times! Off she goes to get a replacement, only to pick the new cup up by the rim with her fingers inside. Lovely little café, good choices of food for various dietary requirements, only issue I found was that the “big breakfast” wasn’t very big but other than that it was lovely, very friendly staff and a nice quiet location. I noticed in the upstairs antique section there was a perfume bottle labelled up as a “vintage French perfume bottle” that turned out to be a Britney Spears perfume you can buy in boots and when I mentioned it to a member of staff they seemed a little bit snappy and defensive about it, I just don’t want someone to pay for something they think is vintage when it’s not. Updated August 2022. Sold out of gluten free cakes today, but good selection of standard cakes for the rest of my family. Sat outside under an umbrella as too hot inside and still not comfortable sitting inside with others, especially as the seating area felt a bit cramped.. You now have to order and pay at the counter and carry your own food and drinks, no waitresses anymore so have a look at the counter to see the cake/savoury choices before you go to your seat especially if in a group.
