I am leaving this review in the hope it is seen as a form of constructive feedback rather than an attack. I recently visited the store on a day trip as their social media presence is prominent and I thought āI must visit!ā
Upon arrival I was greeted as if I was some kind of intruder and unwanted guest. Did I not look the part to spend money in your store perhaps? Very incorrect.
I proceeded to make my way to the cheeses in the fridge - we are a very cheese savvy family. And not the supermarket cheeses they so heavily shame publicly. We spend a lot of money trying the best cheeses we can find - itās a hobby to us. Also with bread produce. Real artisan bread.
I was shouted at for attempting to open the fridge. My absolute disgust and horror at being spoken to in that manner. After a few cross words and some questions about certain cheeses, the approach and knowledge, or lack of is obvious.
I chose not to buy any. I did buy some other deli bits and some of the highly spoken of bread from the store. This is not a bread company that should be highly spoken of from a small business who claim to know about their produce. This bread was awful. It was stale. It tasted awful. This is not artisan bread. This is over produce supermarket bread. The sausage rolls were stale, hard and disgusting. The pork pie tasted like it had been in the fridge uncovered for days on end. The crab sandwich, the filling was delicious. The bread for that, again was awful. I will assume this is the same company as the bread we bought.
Before I am attacked by the owner as I see heās very good at doing across all forms of reviewing platforms, I know delis and food very well.
I donāt believe the people who own or work the store have the knowledge and understanding that they claim to have. I think itās a case of winging it the entire time and reading from memory cards.
After reading the reviews across the board, I have been informed their other business has now closed down. I am not overly surprised in all fairness with the way the food is and how rude the people are. I took my money and spent a few hundred somewhere else that sold cheeses elsewhere. It is a shame as this could have been in their pocket.
I wonāt returned and I would definitely...
Read moreI was in Hunstanton about 3-4 weeks ago. I had a look around in this shop and a guy who was working there with glasses hanging on his nose was there. I liked their coffee beans and mentioned it as I sometimes use the same company. The guy who I assume is the owner, was bold and hard to get something out of him, just to smile was an effort for him. You could have cut the atmosphere in there with a knife. I noticed some cheese in the fridge which had glass doors where all the cheeses are kept. At this specific glass door, the cheeses were wraped with a price tag on it, assuming I can take it out myslef. As I tried to open the fridge door, it was locked. This man started to shout at me, telling me not to touch the fridge doors and telling me aggresively how expensive those fridges are, £12000 worth. He came round with an agressive manner been so rude and asked me angrily if I want to buy it, and also mentioned in a rude manner that the cheeses in the fridges are not self service. I was so shocked and couldn't believe my eyes how the owner of this shop treated me as if I was in his way. I then told him how rude he his and maybe it's a good idea to put a sign on there that all the doors are locked and ask for assistance. He then shouted at me, saying they don't need a sign on there. By that time I was already walking out of his shop. To add insult to injury, there was another customer in the shop when this all kicked off, and he couldn't be bothered acting like this in front of potential customers. If you go and look on the reviews on TripAdvisor for this shop and the cafe, its worse than the Google reviews. I have also noticed how the owner attack the people who leave nagative reviews, like it's never their fault. The reviews speak for itself. Shame on you and I am surprised your shop is still open, as it is always quiet compare to the other shops in Hunstanton. Now I know why when you read...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMaybe the cafe itself isnāt as bad as what Iām about to write, but the girl who served me had an attitude. I picked up on it straight away. The fake friendliness was totally transparent. I ordered a black Americano, one of the large flapjacks that were in the glass food cabinet at the counter, and specifically a āsmallā hot chocolate for my 8 year old daughter. After the fake greeting, the girl passed me the card machine and asked me to follow the on screen instructions, which unbelievably asked for a tip before Iād received any of the items I intended to purchase, or anything worthy of describing as āserviceā. After ignoring the tip instructions on the card machine, I thought to myself āwhat can I expect now for not giving a tip?ā, particularly as Iād already picked up on the poor manner of the girl serving me. I politely asked her if I could have the flapjack on the side of the pile on display, as it looked less greasy than the ones next to it, which she could have easily given me. But no, her response was āIām afraid I have to take them from the topā. Something Iāve never heard anyone say in any other cafe. So for the sake of just getting on with it, I said OK. My daughter and my sat down and were served out drinks and the flapjack. The knife and fork we were given were dirty so we didnāt use them and we were also not provided with any serviettes / tissues. My daughters hot chocolate was enormous and certainly not small in any regard. She said it tasted weird which it did, just too milky and bitter. I returned it to the counter and instead of apologising, the girl just gave me excuses. I demanded a partial refund for the hot chocolate which amazingly she gave me as by then she probably realised I wasnāt your average lay down and take...
