Visit 1. Waited 30 minutes for drinks to arrive, and then at least another 45 for the food, so we'd finished our drinks by then. Cappuccino with no chocolate came with lots of chocolate, I would have just scraped it off but my wife insisted I send it back, when it came the second time it was minus the biscoff the first had come with (never mind, it isn't good for me I'm sure)! Orange juice is from a carton and not chilled. Toasted tea cake was cold and dry, more like eating a bread roll. Sent it back and in fairness what came back was much much better, but still not the best. Wife's vegetarian breakfast was lovely, especially the soya based sausages and fried bread. Finally we were overcharged but this was (hopefully) rectified after they ran down the street after us. Visit 2, returned with more of the family. Drinks took around 30 minutes to arrive again (and again no biscoff with the cappuccino), but food was quicker this time, only another 10-15. Ordered 4 breakfasts, 2 with granary toast, 1 with brown, 1 with white. They arrived with 6 slices of white toast. After querying this, the other toasts were done. One breakfast was ordered without mushrooms but with an extra sausage, it turned up with mushrooms and an extra sausage for which we were charged £1 (we were warned it was extra so fair enough though I think it is better to allow people to substitute one item for another).. Vegetarian breakfasts of which we ordered 3, this time did not come with soya based sausages as the menu stated, but just vegetarian sausages, nowhere near as nice but o.k., I think this should have been stated when we ordered. One hash-brown instead of two the previous time, and this time fried bread was brittle and fairly inedible, white toast was equally brittle, last time fried bread had been really good. Waited about 20 minutes for someone to come out so we could ask for the bill at which point my cappuccino was charged at full price despite me not having the included coffee with my meal, and I thought I should have been just charged the difference. Someone more senior came out and said that it would need to be charged at full price, and that soya sausages were difficult to get at the moment but that she hadn't realised this. Finally she grumpily reminded me that everything was half price at the moment (i.e. I was being tight), but that she'd take the cappuccino off. Funny I thought that that they were receiving the full price and as a tax payer that meant that actually I was effectively paying full price, plus don't they want me to keep going after it goes back to being full price? My family were mortified that I mentioned being disappointed with the sausages and complained about the coffee on the bill, but for me the experience could have been better and these were opportunities for them to redeem themselves but they didn't. They were reluctant and a little bit rude. The service in terms of wait time and getting the order right, was poor on both visits and is letting down sometimes good food. Why ask if everything was ok, only to be really grumpy if something wasn't quite right? I don't think I'm their favourite customer but that's o.k. I doubt I...
Read moreGood location. The facilities were good , clean and comfortable. The food , when it finally arrived was excellent...really let down by the slow service.
Couple of suggestions:- If clients are made to wait anything longer then 25 mins for food then offer a complimentary coffee or tea. Make clients aware that if sitting outside and it's cold that you have blankets for use?
Invest in x8 air fryers ? You could have x8 full English breakfasts cooking at once and quickly?
The young person doing the clearing up needs a tray ... so they can pick lots of stuff up at once and always having something going in both directions ?
The clearer asked if we'd finished so she could tidy up even before we had received our breakfast? Putting an "order no." Spoon etc on the table would tell everyone they are still waiting?
Overall the food was excellent, quite pricey. The WC facilities were nice , modern and clean and the presentation/ final touches were also good ... the delay of the food really let down...
Read moreI live in Hunstanton and I love how friendly and welcoming everyone is. My parents and I decided to try out The Terraces new tapas menu as it sounded delicious. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding with the booking reservation and we turned up at 7.30pm instead of 6pm. The Facebook message said rebooked for 7.30pm, a very strange way of wording, please vacate the table by 7.30pm. The lady serving came over unsmiling and simply said "your table was booked for 6", no apology for the misunderstanding or asking if we wanted to book for another night. She then said there was no need for us to be rude when we were disappointed and became very patronising towards me. I'm sure the food is good but there are plenty of other lovely places to dine out in Hunstanton where staff members know what customer service is. I work in a cafe and know how stressful it can sometimes be but myself and my colleagues are always friendly and welcoming instead of cold and snobby. IF YOU'RE THINKING OF GOING DON'T...
