Nice enough setting with a nice feel to the bar area. I ordered a classic burger with chips and some salad, accompanied by lager (of the fizzy variety). If I had to judge the place on food alone then the burger unfortunately let the side down, as did the chips and the dry salad (with a miniscule dash of a mustard type sauce/garnish on it... which is fine as I am not a supporter of this type of condiment due to an unfortunate 'mustard and honey chicken tonight' incident some years previous). The odd thing was that the bun was quite dry, and held a combination of cheese and (wet) fried onions. I understand the addition of some cheese to enhance and also qualify the burger as a more sophisticated 'cheeseburger' but to discover some strong tasting onions had been added without my consent or knowledge was surprising! The onions were so strong, they flavoured the whole burger and not necessarily in a good way. I did add some pre-packaged tomato sauce in an attempt to steer the burger and chips nearer to the banks of my expectations, however I suspect that the tomatoes used in this case were of the anaemic variety (bolstered by a generous amount of vinegar in the recipe) and so did nothing to improve my meal. The beer was cold, fizzy and crisp however, and the bar staff pleasant enough. It's worth a visit but I'm not sure I would order food there again (unless the beer required some nibble type snackage to be consumed then I would most likely plumb for some scampi flavour fries, salt and vinegar crisps or some pretzel based snack, in that order...I think).

A warm welcome even though we arrived early. The short frequently changing menu indicates a good kitchen brigade that knows what it's doing. We enjoyed King's Lynn shrimps in a glorious butter. The Sandringham mutton chops were just what you think of, thin perfectly cooked and succulent. Needing some greens, the tender stem broccoli with chopped walnuts answered the requirement. Followed, when the first two courses had settled a bit, with a tirramasu of great quality. No need for an excuse to visit, if you pass close, eat and enjoy. If a full lunch is too much, look at the sandwich list, beautifully served and satisfying, to judge by a neighbouring table. All the pub standards are on the menu, but do go for something a bit more exciting. A new and large carpark is within 15 m of the door and access is good for all, though the loos are up a couple of steps in the main building, a fully accessible facility is in a building just across the yard.

The pub looks fabulous now that it's been renovated! The car park, beer garden gardens look beautiful šŸ˜ interior has had a lovely refresh! Service isn't quite there yet. It could do with a bit more of a warm, welcoming, with a smile/taking an interest. But I'm sure they'll get there! Bar service was a bit slow. Paying by cash was a bit problematic. I was asked how I was paying... I said "cash if that's ok?" (Spotting there was an issue with previous customers paying by cash). Bar maid said "yes that's fine, but I might not be able to give you all your change." I think that probably could have been handled better. "I'm struggling for change but I'll do my best" would have come across more helpful. The wine was lovely, though, and it was great to see the beer garden busy on a Wednesday afternoon. Will be back soon to try out the food, and see how the service is then. Brilliant job on the refurbishment.

Terrible and very disappointing. Having been excited by the renovations and being taken over by the same owners of the white horse in Brancaster where we go twice a week. Very upset by our experience. First no dog free zones, although when we went no dog there, but about the customers. The menu was confusing as the numbers on the side were the prices but no pound sign so had to ask. Asked what came with the dishes as nothing stated. Told we had to pick from the list. Both went for the whole place tartare butter sauce with a side of fries. Half a hour later it arrived. The place was swimming in sauce and there was sapphire and another green which we didn’t order and didn’t want. There was so much sauce on the plate when you tried to gentle remove the head and fins the sauce fell of the plate and when lifting of the flesh it swam in space and all you could taste was sauce. So we didn’t eat it. The ships were fine but a very small portion for Ā£3.80 the Place was Ā£24. A beautiful fish totally ruined. Suggest the sauce is served on the side so you can have how much you like. Service poor, no one asked if everything alright with the meal. We asked for the bill and told the waitress it was disgusting initially she smiled until she realised e were serious. She cam with the bill of Ā£76.58 which she included Ā£6.96 which I would think out of curiosity she would have removed if nothing else. She did offer a complimentary coffee but we could get out there quick enough. Such a shame as so much has been done to make the place look lovely with the refurbishments. Would be nice if the food matched it. Also need new cutlery as the old looks like it has seen better days and some fish knives. Very disappointed and will never go back. Do...

We went there on a Tuesday evening in August, there was plenty available seating in the garden, tables with food space between each other to give a little privacy and allow for personal space. The staff were very friendly and kind, very helpful. Free WiFi access as seems to be the norm these days. The vegetarian food choices were quite limited, so I opted for a beetroot starter with chips on the side instead of a main course. I was caught a little by surprise that the beetroot dish was served cold. It was very nice. I think a vegetarian with food allergies may struggle to find something to eat other than chips as the beetroot dish contained walnuts. The chips were okay, my personal preference is for crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy in the inside. These weren't quite crispy enough for my liking but still very nice and clearly cooked fresh. They have an area for playing petanque which i felt was a nice touch with some fun seating - an old church puter I believe. The garden was beautiful offering a fair bit of interest to this who live to look at plants and created a lovely space to relax in. We saw a hummingbird moth feed on some of the flowers. I have never seen one before so that was very exciting. Thank you very much for a wonderful time and...
