Lunch at Wimpy today was a disaster!! We haven't been in a while but we always look forward to having lunch there when we are up town. The first thing we notice when we got seated was the menu has changed & the Quorn burger had disappeared! That is the only thing I eat when I'm there so I was forced to order the vegan burger instead. I gave my order to the young girl & had a feeling she wasn't really listening to me. For starters she didn't even know if the quorn burger was or wasn't on the menu! I asked that my vegan burger didn't include the mayo as I am allergic...yes even to vegan mayo & asked if it could be replaced with the burger sauce instead but she wasn't really paying any attention to my request as when our food finally arrived about 45 minutes after being seated (I'll get back to that) my burger had mayo on it! I had to hand it back & sat there with nothing while my husband ate his lunch!! I asked the same waitress how long I would have to wait for a new burger as I didn't want to wait another 45 minutes & her reply was "so you don't want your burger anymore?" Er....really?? Of course I want my burger!!! I waited 10 minutes, the same young girl sulking brought my plate over to me, practically threw my plate down which resulted in my burger bun top ending on the floor!! My meal was taken away AGAIN!! I asked this young girl for a small pot of burger sauce but by this time she was totally & blatently ignoring me! My vegan patty burger was disgusting! It wasn't cooked long enough, there was half a slice of tomato on it, pathetic wilted pieces of lettuce just thrown on with maybe one or two ridiculously thin slices of onion!! There was burger sauce spilt over the edge of my plate which should've been cleaned before being brought to me. The fries were no better...most of them looked AND tasted as though they had been reheated from the day before!! Wimpy...what on earth is going on? Where is the quality and attention to detail that we have gotten used to expecting each visit? A sloppy, under cooked burger, over cooked fries & a dirty plate? And I had to wait an hour for that pathetic meal? The presentation on my husbands burger was no better & his fries were over cooked as well! It's the type of food you expect from McDonald's but at Wimpys prices which I've never had a problem paying until today! The food was abysmal, the waitress clearly didn't give a toss & the chef (ha ha I use that term loosely) is not qualified to cook a slice of toast! We usually have an amazing experience especially if Emma serves us! She cares about her customers & is so efficient but after today, with the disgusting food & service I'm afraid we will not be returning to Wimpy in King's Lynn ever again!!! It's like all the staff just could not be bothered today!! Simply not...
Read moreWe had often thought about popping into Wimpy as presumed it would be a really nice place for Parents with 2 young kids. The refurbishment and nice new furniture was very inviting. That is where the good ends!
Greeted at the door by one of the servers and took details and pointed to our table. Eventually someone came to take out order and this is when we found out that Wimpy staff all speak about 20 decibels too high! It was not overly busy but for some bizarre reason all the servers we encountered except the girl that dropped off our drinks insisted out shouting questions at us. I was a bit surprised at the prices but thought it would mean that maybe the quality was going to be quite a bit higher than I had expected.
12:50 according to our receipt says our drinks order was taken. 25 minutes later our food arrives. 2 kids cheeseburger and chips and the chicken fillet with sweet potato fries and the half pound cheese and bacon burger with sweet potato fries. The kids burgers are all of the absolute lowest quality. Over cooked flaps of dried out shoe leather in a bun that’s too big for them. Chips that had clearly been sitting for a while as they were all shrivelled and barely warm. The half pound burger was a bit better but again the absolute lowest of quality of burger in it. I have no issue with low quality food but not at higher prices. The sweet potato fries were some of the best I have had. Absolutely the best thing about the meal, sorry, the only good thing about the meal.
Not once did any of the servers come back and check everything was fine, I would imagine it’s because the odds of a positive answer are so low then why would you want to go and ask a question that you know is likely going to garner some brutal honesty.
I had no idea that you had to go and put at the till which I hadn’t even seen from the point we were sat and only my wife that realised as another customer went and paid. I followed suit. Girl asked me what table we were at, I handed her the receipts and she took the money, no asking if the meal was ok or a warm goodbye!
This meal cost £35!! For serving such poor quality food at such inflated prices in such a bizarrely hostile/passive aggressive manner then you really should be ashamed of yourselves. Table next to us clearly were not happy how long they had been waiting and I don’t think that as I looked around the restaurant I saw any groups clearly enjoying anything about their experience and you could tell the staff don’t enjoy anything about doing their job.
I absolutely won’t ever go back and I would imagine I’ll be warning all my friends with kids that I think might make an equal error in judgement to Go and spend their money for much better quality and value at somewhere like Nando’s or many of the independent...
Read moreI have been using the Wimpy in King's Lynn since 1979, but after today I will be not visiting this branch any more due to the poor customer service. I ordered a small breakfast which when it came the egg was over cooked and hard, and when I turned the egg over it had this gray slim on the bottom (from the grill. The same was the case for my patners meal) and you don't get a whole half tomato, just a thick slice. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she just shrugged and remove the meal with no appology. When I went to pay I was first charged full price, even though both of us could not eat all of our meal due to the colour of the gray slim on the eggs. When I challenged this I was told that they was nothing wrong with the meal. I showed the cook the eggs and issue with the tomato which resulted in a 10% discount begrudgingly. The cook refused to accept the the gray slim was a problem and dismissed the overcooked egg and commented that a thick slice of tomato was how they do it now. I suggested that the grill was not clean, hence the gray slim, I was told curtly that the grill was cleaned every night therefore the gray slim was nothing to be concerned with. What every happened to customer service? Having worked in the industry I know that a restaurant is only as good as its last meal and if a customer complains about the quality of the food you move heaven and earth to ensure that the customer leaves happy and not as this occasion allow the customer to leave saying that they will never use this establishment again and basically tell the customer they are wrong and that it is normal to serve food...
