Arrived at worzels and decided to grab lunch before going to the pumpkin patch. We were greeted at the desk and we asked for a table for 4 and a highchair. Straight away told lunch doesn't start until 12 & youll have to be gone by 13.30pm as were busy. Thought that's rude but OK we'll get a drink first, now bearing in mind we had 2 children with us we were whisked past all the empty tables in the main dining area close to play area, we were lead to the furthest part of the restaurant to a darkly lit table in the corner. We waited 20 minutes and still not asked what we would like to order. So I called the waitress over who was pleasant and we ordered drinks, which took longer than they should have to arrive. We weren't asked at this point what we would like to order so again had to ask to place an order. Order arrives and I had ordered a scone with jam,. It looked very well cooked put it this way it wouldn't have got a warm welcome from Paul Hollywood had he been marking it on bake off. I thought that it was actually a rock cake. Anyway asked the waitress if I could have a different one because it was dry, burnt and fell apart when attempting to saw it in half. Clearly the waitress took offence didn't remove it went away came back and said " I haven't brought another one as they were all from the same batch so it wouldn't be any different to the other one" then promptly walked away. No apology, no can I get you anything else she just walked So everyone else had a cake, I just looked at mine thinking REALLY! Next mission was to pay for the drinks and cakes, waitress wandering around taking orders but totally ignored me as I tried to politely get her attention, ( She saw me ) I tried to follow her she was gone, I asked at the area where we had eaten and was told to wait at the table and she'd be back. My daughter and grandchildren had gone outside at this point. Ten minutes I waited and nothing. I decided Id walk to the til near the bar as there were 2 waitresses there. ( Including the one who had ignored me and had been rude earlier ) I approached and they ignored me then promptly walked off. I went outside getting more than a bit annoyed at this point. I had literally just sat down outside in the play area and another very rude waitress approached shoved a receipt at me and rudely said pay at the bar the card machine isn't working out here. So this clearly proves they saw me stood right in front of them at the til trying to pay. Sorry but that was the final straw, so at this point I'd told her I had been trying to pay several times and had been ignored, not too sure what she muttered as she walked away. Clearly it was for effect because if you have something to say to someone don't walk away whilst muttering under your breath. So all in all the worse without a doubt place I have ever been. Customer service doesn't deserve the 1 * but that's the least you can give. My advice grab your pumpkin and leave absolutely disgusting way to treat paying customers. I was going to ask to speak to the manager but decided I'd been ridiculed enough...
Read moreReally big disappointment!! Booked to go for my 30th bday this evening with family and friends, I had started with a breaded mushroom starter which was alright could of been cooked / toasted abit longer allowing the panko breadcrumbs to golden, then I had the full rack of ribs which are in the photo below, they arrived and I was shocked to see a rack of ribs constructed of 3 half racks basically, then to notice the ribs were basically cooked as plain meat with no seasoning or marinate, and served with a massive dash of bbq sauce across the middle of them, I've never had something so bland and tasteless and the sweet potato fries were just cooked to be honest. So I complained to Joe the tall waiter who was behind the bar, he apologies and offers to replace my meal, so I opt for the steak and ale pie with chips at this point my mother had returned her undercooked steak aswell, so when the meals reappear finally the pie turned up burnt on top and the steak was still undercooked and red raw and ment to be medium. Also the gravy that accompanied the pie was well over salted and bitter. We then ordered 3 puddings aswell, they had taken so long to appear we cancelled them and asked for the bill which took at least 20 mins to appear aswell, the staff just seemed like they couldn't be bothered and the manager who I believe to be a blonde lady in black waist jacket would may had arranged changes to the bills couldn't even be bothered to address us at all and the waiter/ manager joe only appears a few times, poor keira who had to deal with us did a good job but overall I wouldn't be returning in a hurry or suggesting the grill and bar to...
Read moreAs we have been a number of times previously, we were looking forward to our pre-booked table for the pancake day menu that we had arranged for 11am.
Firstly I will make it clear that the food was once again very good and this has always been the case. However when we arrived (at 1055 for an 1100 booking) we were told that we would have 8 minutes to order otherwise we could not have food as the kitchen would close. At no point were we told this when we booked and why would you allow people to book tables for food (especially with children) for this time if you know the kitchen closes.
It took a few minutes to be given our table and we were once again reminded we only had a few minutes to order. A minute later after receiving menus we were asked for food and drink orders. With 4 children ranging from 2 to 8 and 4 adults this was no easy task and we couldn't have been made to feel any more inconvenient. When the food did come out we had an additional 5 minute wait for one of this children's food however the food was very good and enjoyed by all.
In summary we were really unhappy with the lack of communication and relayed this to the (presumably) manager who didn't really have anything to say. We were already made to feel like an inconvenience which was really disappointing given that we really enjoyed the food. It was busy but not the busiest we've seen it so I don't feel there was really an excuse for it. Despite visiting reguarly in the past we will probably think twice before...
