We came in at what seemed to be peak lunchtime in the middle of half term. I had to clean my own table because it was extremely busy but l didn't mind because l could see that the pub was full to the brim and the staff were flying out of the kitchen with food while simultaneously trying to clear tables and accommodate all of the customers. I think it must be noted that every member of staff l came in contact with was extremely polite, accommodating and swift on their feet. Food was good and consistent on a very busy day, to me that means the kitchen maintains a very high standard throughout. We had variety of burgers and they were very tasty , good quality produce and lovely chips. It shocked me how completely different standard of food it was to our local Marston's pub in March. Our local leaves a lot to be desired for, being the same brewery l probably expected something similar but was extremely positively surprised with the branch in Hunstanton. Everything was lovely because the staff in there both kitchen and front of the house really set up a high standard of service and it shows. When it comes to facilities, l really liked the set up with lots of tables in little sections giving one a bit of intimacy in an otherwise very lively and busy pub. We are going to come back because we loved our experience in there. Our dogs loved it too and l wholeheartedly appreciate that's it is a dog friendly pub.

The Honeystone Hunstanton, having recently refurbed our camper van interior and thinking of an early breakaway, to get any bugs out, decided on Hunstanton. A good bowshot from the beach is The Honeystone, plenty of parking, seafront and amusements a 2 minute walk. Tescos 6am-midnight on the other side of a quiet road. We were met by friendly staff, having booked a space. We arrived at 5 pm in time for our traditional fish and chips supper on arrival. Large piece of fish in crispy beer batter, chips and mushy peas all well prepared and served on large hot plates with all the trimmings. Friendly, efficient and very welcoming staff, comfy, clean and no waiting. Morna took the booking and although she had finished by the time we arrived, all staff were top notch! Quick and unobtrusive, bravo! The total absence of rules means that everything works well together and after the normal closing time, car parking and the road was very quiet. We will definitely return, our stay here always seems too short.

Found the pub staff to be friendly, accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, the food and atmosphere was excellent, the service was swift and well presented, served on hot plates and was tasty, plentiful and good value for money and such good choice. Morna took our booking and was in the restaurant Friday and was so helpful and even waved to us when she saw us in the car park on her arrival. All staff though were efficient, friendly, apologetic if they felt you had been kept waiting, which was never the case. Brett the Landlord really has got a great setup, his staff are brilliant and we will be posting this on every review we can and we also told a couple we saw at the beach on Saturday who were visiting from Leicestershire fir the day and they said they will tell their son and they will visit The Honeystone on their next visit. The pub, not only making you so welcome are well situated, and there is a Tesco store across the pub.

Abysmal. We originally tried to visit Wednesday evening, but were advised of a 1hr wait as the restaurant was busy. No problem with this, as we hadn't booked a table. However, with two already hungry young children in our party, this was unsuitable so we went elsewhere.

So next day we booked a table in advance, arrived punctually and ordered within 5 minutes of arrival. The order was a party of 4: comprising 2 children's meals and 2 sandwiches - so nothing too tasking or challenging to prepare.

45 minutes later, there was no sign of our food arriving. We had noted several other guests who had arrived after us had already been served with steak and chicken meals etc., (which would have taken more time to prepare than with our own meals) so we queried the whereabouts of our order. We were somewhat astounded to be told that orders were taking 45 - 60 minutes to prepare (so really no point in booking a table in advance for a set time).

On querying why other guests who had arrived after us were already being served, we were told this was because their party sizes were smaller that ours (ours being a party of 4). If true, what an absolute disgrace - rather than prioritising guests in accordance with timing of orders being placed (which to my knowledge is normal practice in catering), you prioritise in order of the smallest party size. I'd hate to be in a party of 10 etc; according to this policy we might never get served.

After a few minutes, we were then advised our order would be the next out. This proved to be either wildly inaccurate or an outright lie - you decide which. At least 10 other orders were witnessed being taken out to other tables before ours eventually came.

Unfortunately, nothing much improved when the meals were served. One of the children's meals, sausage, mash & beans, was served with only 8 beans (yes we counted) and had to be returned with a request for a reasonable serving.

All in all, a most unwelcome experience sadly falling way below the standard we have come to expect from eating at other Marston's...

The staff were rude and unwelcoming, we had one extra person and were told we couldn’t have an extra chair as there weren’t any even though we passed tables that were under occupied with spare chairs. Four of us had to squash into a bench. We were told to order food from the table “if you can get wifi”, best bet is to turn up an hour before you want to eat and you’ll be fine, Overall the experience was awful, if you want a restaurant with unhelpful staff and below average food this is the perfect place for you! Thank you for replying, there was a sign up saying up to an hour wait but as we ordered our food the sign was taken away and no member of staff told us about a wait time for food! As for not enough room at the table we were on a long table that had plenty of room either end for another chair, the reason we weren’t given another chair was because there were none available although we walked past at least 3 chairs that were not being used. The spare chairs were at tables that were under occupied, we also witnessed a member of staff put a box onto an empty chair as we walked past. I understand it’s a busy time of year but surely adding another chair would have been the correct thing to do. We were basically told “the table is only booked for 6” then a shrug of the shoulder followed by “if you can all squeeze on that’s fine otherwise we’ve got nothing for you”. I did under book and I’m not arguing that fact it’s the lack of customer service, we’ve never encountered a restaurant not having enough chairs while walking past...

I was disappointed that no fish and chip shops were open on our afternoon/evening visit to Hunstanton and then my husband remembered this pub located down the end of town. Was great that you were dog friendly inside. Was disappointed that you also had no fish and chips available 😔 it just wasn't meant to be. Went online to order, although (perhaps it was my phone) I was unable to see everything in my basket before I paid so I needed to manually add things up to ensure everything we wanted was there. Not sure if you have an app (as didn't see any info on the menus regarding one) food was nice, we did ask the waitress, when she delivered our starters, if we could have our mains as soon as (as our dogs were having some of the starters seeing as we were far from home and they were hungry after their swim), was surprised that she literally went and got it straight away (implying they would've sat under the lights cooked, waiting for us to finish our starters, rather than being cooked once we'd finished) wasn't offered dessert when our plates were cleared, was unsure if we were even allowed it seeing as food stops at 9pm and it was maybe around that time, cant quite remember (perhaps that could be clarified when people come in later, or are given there mains as a heads up) Ordered a San Miguel but then was told they were sold out of it and offered a replacement instead. We had the chicken sharer and mozzarella and cheddar bites to start, scampi and ultimate...
