We chose not to cook our own Christmas Dinner this year, and were very happy with the plentiful and delicious food on offer at Heathfield Farm Carvery. The staff had all worked extra hard to make all their guests happy, with many personalised touches, including an individually hand-written Christmas card, gingerbread men and a wrapped gift for children in our party. The best thing was the happy atmosphere. The only little niggles were that one of our group - our Ukrainian guest - was left waiting ages for her starter, after we had all been served, despite our exact table order having been emailed well in advance, and my daughter didn't get the nut roast she had ordered. (I got mine, though, and it was absolutely my favourite - really tasty, and with a good texture) . I suggest they check orders carefully- make sure all serving staff are aware - particularly when there are vegetarian orders - so that when each table is called up to get their meal, they already have any special orders ready to go. Other than that issue, the staff were all super smiley and helpful. I loved the Christmas sauces (apple, mint, cranberry and horseradish) that were available on a separate table and that I was able to get a portion of creamy Madagascan vanilla ice cream at the table, even though my Marz Attack Cake was to take home with me. They were also very generous with the time slot they allowed - 3 whole hours between new groups of diners - so we had plenty of time to sit and enjoy our special family meal within a relaxing and cosy environment.

I've never had anything like it! I rang up and explained when we wanted to come and how many people, she explained the the kids play area was going to be refurbed and would be closed until the 10th of December so we switched from the 1st to the 15th and we decided to go in that evening have a meal (spent nearly £100) and book it. After speaking to the first person we asked we were then told that we werent allowed to book the christmas menu on a Sunday because it is their busiest day but we were allowed to book the normal menu, so before leaving we went to the bar to then be told we're not allowed to do that either (all this was said from the "manager" )so i asked if we could speak to her because the girl who we was speaking to was new and she kept having to go and ask her questions, the "manager" was very rude and cocky, in the end she said that she would get the person who is in charge of christmas to call me in the morning and let me know if we could do it ("maybe at 12pm or 6pm" to which i replied 12pm would be fine). It has been 3 days now and i still havent heard anything! Finally on Christmas menu it clearly states Sunday 2 courses £18.99 Please book in advance! Staff definitely need educating and an attitude check. It's such a shame because the carvery was quite nice but service was a 0/10 for me .

We'd booked some time ago, as a party of eight but when we got there, our reserved table was occupied by three people who were told they could stay there. We then got seated at a table for six and had to find two other chairs ourselves. I had the carvery, as did six of our party. The plates were cold, and the vegetables were barely warm and not very inviting; the meat was nice though. I feel that instead of having three types of potatoes, they should offer another vegetable instead, as the choice isn't as good as their competitors. The quality of the vegetables was very hit and miss; the sprouts were firm and fresh, the carrots looked inedible, brown around the edges, dry and wrinkled and the cauliflower and red cabbage disintegrated on my plate. The meat was very well cooked, the Yorkshires and stuffing were tasty too. We'd heard about their huge servings of dessert and decided to take some home; six of us did. We had a peak at someone's selection and they chose the caramel shortbread and a cake slice, both of which looked enormous and tasty. We got home having spent £11 on two desserts and were totally disappointed; the cake slice was ample, but the cheesecake slice was tiny! All in all, a very mixed meal but the staff (except the one who seated us) were efficient and very pleasant.

I'm very disappointed. Its been a while since we last visited and thought it would be a safe bet. Upon ordering, we didn't recieve any drinks. After finishing a starter I went into collect my drinks and they couldn't find my order ticket. (Got there in the end.) Once my main arrived (9oz ribeye) it was very well done after asking for medium. The mushrooms were black and burnt and the peas were flat cold. I sent the food back for the first time ever in my life! On the 2nd attempt, the steak was cooked medium as requested however quality of meat was shocking. Very stringy/grisly and chewy. There was also no improvement to the mushrooms or peas on round 2. I would have sent it back again if it wasn't for seeing how stressed the waitresses were despite it appearing to be quiet, I ate what I could. The only saving grace was Waitress Kacy who insisted on checking we had everything as it should be and seemed to share our frustration.

Ordered on the app, drinks sat on the bar for 15 minutes or so - food came out before the drinks. Our friend who ordered his drinks at the bar was on his second drink by the time our first one came out. When ours did come they were wrong and sent back. When asked where the drinks were the bar team said 'theres only so much we can do'. 25/02/22 @ 13:00 - the whole bar team need training. Food came out okay, although nachos had a really awful taste and the fish was dry, drinks ordered at the bar was two different prices both times for the same drink - rekorderlig strawberry lime was £4.50 first time and £5.50 second time. The elderly waiter was gaumless and asked us for a review before checking we were okay, he handed the drinks with his fingers in the top of the glass which was gross and we were never offered the basics of sauces. Complete lack of organisations from start to fish. 4th time here and it's getting worse every time.

Cake away review only: Poor. Queued for what seemed like an age simply for 2 cakes to take away as a treat. After eventually getting served, got home to find that they had got the order wrong so we didn’t actually get what we asked for. The ‘Marz Attack’ cake used to be excellent. Now, not so much. The layer of frosting, if you can call it that, was practically see through. Used to be half an inch thick, now it looks like it was spray painted on. Cake itself was dry, which wouldn’t have been so bad had there been enough frosting to mask it. Not sure if they have changed cake maker or if they are just cutting back to save a few pence. But either way, the amount they charge for a slice of cake to be provided with what we got today is criminal. Used to be regular but won’t be so much going forward if this is the new standard.
