A safe middle of the pack curry house.

Please be aware that:

Poppadoms are £0.90 EACH. Pickle tray is charged at £2.60.

This is encouraged before the menu arrives and so know this before you agree.

The curries while entirely inconsistent. Are tasty enough. Very greasy, small ish portion of curry. Rice charged at Ā£3.80. Paratha was extremely greasy and soggy in the middle. Rather than to make e.g. an onion paratha where the onion is incorporated into the dough, the restaurant places a few bits of rare onion into the sandwich of two parathas. The end result is raw onion, wet and raw dough in the centre coated in plenty of oil. With regard to the curry, I ordered what I had previously ordered. However it isn’t what I go. I requested no chicken in my curry and it came with chicken so be aware if you have any dietary requirements or intolerances. This place is dry so if you fancy a drink, please bring your own. Desserts look like cash and carry freezer items so it’s an excuse to go elsewhere to satisfy that sweet tooth. Overall, middle of the pack, nothing amazing nothing too dire. Could do better, but relative to surrounding competition…they don’t charge a lot.

The delivery driver in a Toyota Yaris almost ran us over. Probably because he’s aggressive, hasn’t much patience and has yet to decide headlights are not optional when...

Easily best in heckmondwike, cleckheaton and Dewsbury area. I've tried everywhere else for curry and now I only order from here for curry. Only few things I'd change, the menu I haven't got a clue what anything is...so it be best if it was explained more. I've not tried 80 percent because I have no idea what I'm ordering. So I normally stick to tikka masala or chicken saag as I know that's spinach. Balti is nice too. Starters I've tried a few. All nice. Onion bhajis are cooked different here, they are flat like burgers, completely different to other restaurants but they still taste nice. More like a veggie burger. As I say tho, the Currys and the food you order here is so tasty. Other takeaways I've tried round here the Currys can be watery, or salty, or the meat not cooked properly etc....but at Shama it's quality everytime. I've eaten here a few times too the dining experience is top notch. Bring your own beer. But I don't like beer with my curry anyway I order softdrinks and water. Oh , try the fish tikka on the starter menu....

Where to even start! We ordered for the first time about 1 week ago. The curries were amazing! Very tasty and flavoursome. The chixken was succulent. The nann was so fresh and tasty didnt go hard during eating which some places do! The spice in both curries was spot on! The chicken pakora was the best I have ever tasted. There wasn't any oil or grease In the curry container like other places we have tried before. The portions are so generous! Delivered in a branded box with wipes which I just feel is a lovely touch instead of just arriving in a carrier bag! Overall I was blown away and so happy with the food and service. My new go to for a really good curry if you are looking for a full belly, a spot on curry full of flavour and amazing value for money get to the shama you will not be disappointed!!

I'm writing this after our second order. And again the food was out of this world! Compliments...

Ordered some food online and can honestly say the worst curries I’ve ever had in my life. They all tasted like they were made by a 12 year old kid with pre-made sauces brought from the store. Chicken Korma was bland. Keema peas had extra veg in that ruined the taste of it. Ghosht Handi again had extra veg added in when it’s supposed to be a meat curry only? The only thing I will say is that the meat was tender. These curries are not authentic at all and they all lacked seasoning/flavour. Not only that the chapattis were extremely thin, chips over cooked and the salad only consisted of couple slices of cucumber and sliced onion. Wasted Ā£45

Went on a Monday night, so as you can imagine it was quite. We where served as soon as we went in, and received a lot of attention. Waiters where very friendly, attentive and efficient. Pickle tray was standard. Chicken tikka was quite tasty and soft. You could tell it was fresh. Lamb chops where very tasty but only 3 in a portion :(. Didn’t try the chicken curry but the meat curry was very good. Spices where perfect. Mango lassi was very thick and not watered down at all could taste the yogurt which is how it should be! Also had a naan, this was probably the softest naan I’ve had in a very very long time.

I’m staying at a friends and we decided to have a curry evening ordered a takeaway. I have never tasted a curry so bland and I only ordered a korma and it had no coconut sweet taste at all. The rice was also disgusting and brown and tasted like pure grease when it was meant plain pilau. The cheese naan was literally a pizza base absolutely covered in cheese that was floppy. I actually refused to eat any of mine and went to Tesco and bought a curry ready meal instead so ended up wasting Ā£20. On a plus highly recommend this Tesco ready meal.
