Well what can I say, stubbled upon this absolute gem of a pub. Beautiful decor with such friendly and welcoming staff. Amber & Emily served us with a smile and made us feel right at home. Hats off to the Chef, the food was absolutely delicious, I honestly can’t say anything bad about this place. Lovely beer garden with seating and benches. Definitely worth a stop off. Thank you for having us. We will be back.

Amazing food, great service and great staff, would recommend trying the flat iron steak, great steak and cooked to perfection, the 2 girls running it are lovely and very friendly, if your looking for some good home cooked food then wheatsheaf is the place

Best Sunday roast in the UK so far! Had the beef and it was perfectly cooked and definitely made with love, highly recommend. Almost as good(very very close) to Paddington’s pub in Gothenburg Sweden.. Will come back.

Not as good as some people claim. Went last night which was a Tuesday night late Jan 2018 and it was very quiet which you'd expect so there should no excuses for poor quality.

I ordered a steak from the specials board. At £16 it wasn't up to snuff. The steak was clearly poor quality and had very little flavour and the sauce was way too sweet. A small dish of burnt chips accompanied this.

My mum had haddock mornay and this was frankly a disgrace. It looked to us that it had been in the microwave but when we complained the waiter insisted it had just been left in the oven too long in error. Either way it was an over cooked mess. To be fair they did return the cost of this.

My brother had the lamb rump which was nothing more than fine, again the sauce was too sweet. The only really good dish was my dad's fish and chips which did look excellent and he said it was delicious. This is the dish they are most known for though. The menu also hasn't changed for years and the dessert menu only had five items on it.

All in all not very good at all. My main issue here is that the Wheatsheaf isn't cheap. It's not really expensive but it doesn't bill it's self as cheap pub grub it definitely sells the restaurant / gastro pub theme. When charging £16 for a main course you just have...

Dined here today as it's been a while since I last ate here. The venue was quite busy with 12 people dining already and we were seated quickly. From being seated to starters arriving took 30 minutes and in this time I was able to look around at my surroundings and only 1 word comes to mind FILTHY , if I hadn't have been starving and on a very tight schedule I would not have ordered here. Everything from the wine glasses on the tables to the cutlery was dirty it was well and truly amazing. When drinks arrived the glasses were served and my coffee cold, upon mentioning this there was a 15 minute wait for a fresh (cold) replacement. The food its self was poor although plentiful, I was not asked how I would like my steak cooked so it came over cooked and the mash had a skin on. All in all a bad experience and one I wont...

Food is usually really good. The portions are huge. Only issue with this pub is the service which can be pretty bad at times. Not unusual for waits of up to an hour for each course. Also, don't be surprised if walk in customers are given priority over booked in customers as this has happened to us on several occasions. We once spent almost 3 hours eating here due to slow service. Only explantion we were given was that there were lot of walk in customers. My comment that they should be told it was busy and asked if they didn't mind waiting was just laughed off by the manager. Not happy when we had booked over 3 weeks...
