Great Food and a Lovely Market.
I visited here on a cloudy Sunday afternoon for brunch at Hide & Hoof and found The Barn Market was open too.
The Barn has a nice selection of local Yorkshire independent stores selling unique goods like stylish prints with Yorkshire slang and hand made jewellery.
At Hide & Hoof Farm Restaurant, it was very busy on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant has a large capacity with both ground floor and upstairs eating areas but despite this it was very busy for Sunday lunch. I’d recommend booking a table ahead of schedule if possible. I had a group of 7 and was seated upstairs. The restaurant atmosphere is lovely as was the interior decor of the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and served me and my friends promptly after we decided what we wanted to eat. I ordered the 3 stack of American Pancakes with crispy chicken, chargrilled back bacon & maple syrup which costs £10.95 and I also ordered a Pot ‘a’ Tots (hash brown bites) from the special menu which costs £3.95. The food arrived within 40 minutes on a very busy Sunday. The crispy chicken was cooked beautifully and was paired well with the bacon and syrup, the tots were lovely, fried and cooked to perfection! Worth the wait.
After brunch, I ordered ice-cream from The Udder Room. Downstairs in the restaurant the ice-cream counter was very busy and I was asked to visit the outdoor store instead. There is a nice selection of ice-cream available (see my photos). I ordered the double scoop of Biscoff & Raspberry Ripple in a cone which costs £4. The ice-cream wasn’t particularly special but topped off the lovely brunch.
Overall, I had a lovely afternoon at Hide & Hoof Farm Restaurant. The service was good and the food was great. I would like to visit again and try different food at the restaurant. I think next time I would also give the...
Read moreI visited here on Sunday as it was a family occasion and mine and my daughter’s birthday surprise from the rest of the family, our table was booked in advance 2 weeks prior and was booked for 12.45, I was quite excited to go as my husband and my other daughter had been before saying it was really nice and great food, we got there about 10 minutes early and was told our table wasn’t ready, which was fine, we didn’t get to our table till 1pm, when we were finally seated there was no apology for the wait the table was still filthy, and wet the chairs were dirty and the floor full of food, so I asked for it cleaning again all I got was a mucky look and I felt as though I was wrong to ask for it cleaning still again no apology, this same said girl came and took our order of drinks, 10 minutes later the drinks came I asked for half a larger and lime my husband a pint of larger, what came was a pint of larger and lime, so we had to wait another 10 minutes for this to be replaced and sorted out, yet again no apology, at this point I felt really uncomfortable, so far everything was going wrong, the same girl came to take our order for food, don’t get me wrong the food was lovely but from sitting down to getting our food it took nearly an hour, if your gonna have such a quick turnaround of people coming booked tables need to be cleared and the people before gone at least 10 minutes before the other people come in at least, I didn’t feel relaxed here and felt I was being looked at in disgust that I had asked for my table cleaned again and the drinks coming wrong, I hope next time I visit it will be a better experience, not a lovely birthday surprise it was quite spoiled by rude and unapologetic staff member. All I can say about this visit was the food was nice the experience...
Read moreWe came today for a birthday brunch; the restaurant was fully booked, so we'd booked an outdoor heated booth instead. We've eaten in outdoor booths in nice restaurants elsewhere and always found them warm and cosy; we presumed, given Yummy Yorkshire's reputation, that they'd be similar to our previous experiences, and at least be warm enough to eat reasonably comfortably with our coats on. However, this was not the case and I really wish we'd done our research properly before coming here.
The single heat lamp didn't keep the booth warm at all, as the booth was not fully enclosed so the poor attempt at heating was completely pointless; the front is completely open, as is the bottom of each 'wall' allowing the wind to run through and freeze your legs. Additionally the seat cushion is covered in a plastic-y fake leather material which is freezing to sit on. We told the staff how cold we were, and were given a single wet blanket to share between five of us. Also, the roof of the 'booths' doesn't extend out at all, so the rain just runs straight off onto the ends of the seats and the table, including, to our dismay when we came to eat, onto all our cutlery and napkins. Overall, we spent the whole meal wet and freezing, so we left as soon as we could. I just don't feel like the booths are very well designed at all, and perhaps Yummy Yorkshire would be better off not opening them at all in winter if they can't give a good customer experience.
Food and drinks were ok, but not good enough to entice me to come back and eat in the restaurant itself. I had the gingerbread and orange pancakes, which were too thin, slightly undercooked, and not very visually appealing; I really wish I'd ordered...
