Trung's Restaurant — Restaurant in Lancaster

My family have been going to Trungs for around 10 years, mostly takeaway but have eaten in a handful of times. We ordered a takeaway last night just as it opened at 5 to collect at 6. My brother and his girlfriend went to pick it up. They got back and gave out the food to find 3 items missing. One of us rang straight away to be told that it’s sat waiting for us. Nobody has tried to contact us to let us know. Thankfully we only live 5 minutes away so my brother went back to get it. Received a free bottle of larger for the trouble. This isn’t the first time that we’ve have food missing recently. I’m aware of the sign at the desk that says please check your food but it’s quite an uncomfortable thing to do in front of a full restaurant of people. So that was disappointing and then me and my partner got a few dishes to share. I have never been disappointed with my meal but this time I was. The chow mein didn’t taste of anything and was really watery. The chips weren’t fresh the prawn toast was soggy. The only thing I could taste was a ridiculous amount of chilli from my sweet chilli and garlic chicken. Really disheartened with our experience this time around. Food here is always excellent, we’ve been going for over twenty years.

Yesterday evening, for the first time, the service was no where near its usual standard. We pre-ordered to save time, but the gap between courses was actually longer. My Dad got his starter when most of us had finished and no water bowl was provided to wash our hands, as we’ve always had. We were then served our duck interval. Usually, we get enough pancakes for three for each person, this time 3 of the 7 in our party only had one, so I had to ask and wait again for more to be steamed, by which time the duck was cold. The waitress told me they only serve one packet of 6 per portion (which is 6 but we still only had 5). That’s never been our experience, we’re usually served enough for the number of people, not size of duck served. It felt like we had to ask for everything that is usually automatically given or offered, and for the first time we were not asked at any point how the food was. I felt like I was constantly asking for things which dampened the evening. Next time we’re going to order takeout so we’re in control...

On holiday and looking for a good Chinese takeaway and oh my, we have found an excellent Chinese takeaway.

BBQ spare ribs so tender and the sauce just perfect, not too thick and tasted amazing,, Salt and Pepper Ribs again tender with a crisp S & P coating, plenty of onion, chilli etc.. and so so tasty.

Special Trungs curry asked for extra spicy, all the meat cooked so well, the beef and pork fell apart, tender chicken and meaty king prawns, the veg had a crunchy but not too crunchy and the curry sauce just amazing, had a kick but could still taste the food and the spices,,Special Satay, the meat and prawns just the same as the curry and husband said it was one of the best he has had, well there was nothing left so guess that says it all.

We both had egg fried rice and again cooked beautifully,,

Oh and the prawn crackers, crisp, not oily, good crunch and very tasty.

When we are back in the area this will be our go to...
