Awful standard of meal the chef's really do need more training. Used to be a really lovely pub but it's really gone downhill. Ordered the mixed grill, the steak was all fat and gristle, the chicken was rock hard and the gammon steak was like a brick. I ended up having a sausage, and a few fries. Partner had the burger and this was clvery overdone also causing her to leave it and go hungry also. To the staff members credit she wiped the bill but all 3 of us left hungry. After over an hour waiting for the food Also a dog friendly rule should mean well behaved dogs only, not aggressive dogs which fight with others in the pub. Not good atmosphere. Also witnessed a member of staff possibly the shift supervisor petting the dogs and then go straight into the kitchen to run food. Sorry to say, we won't be returning. UPDATE AFTER BEING CALLED A LIAR BY WHAT MUST BE THE MANAGER: - We were offered a replacement gammon, which was cancelled by your member of staff off her own back, it never actually got to the table as ahe cancelled it before we had chance. - I assume you were the one that was petting the dogs and not in uniform, which can be the only reason for publically calling your customers liars. - We were told by your member of staff Lauren that she was wiping the drinks off the bill before leaving, we did not refuse anything. And she was very good. - More training is clearly needed for you and the chef.

Very busy place and it took along time to be served.Only one of the bar staff had any get up and go. The other staff were very busy and our waitress didn't even stand long enough at our table to hear if our food was ok before she was walking away. Been here before alot of times and never had such poor staff interaction. The food we got was nice, hot and reasonably priced but the staff spoilt the overall visit..........Went back yesterday 10th December 2018 after the places renovation and face lift. Its been transformed into a much more customer friendly environment and the staff are so much better at customer service, had a really enjoyable time.

Usually enjoy my meals here but this time it wasn't up to standard. I had the gammon and it was tough to the point of cremation. Was with a friend and on the clock so no time to ask for a new meal...just mentioned it upon leaving. Hopefully the standard will return next time as it is our local. UPDATE : Been several times since that review and happy to say, meals were great every time. Actually had the gammon meal a few days ago and asked for poached eggs instead of fried and the chef did them perfectly. Edited review from 3 to 5 stars now.

LIVE SLUG IN THEIR FOOD.

went to the pub on a Sunday evening to grab a bite to eat. My cauliflower bites came with a side of rocket. After my third bite I thought there was a mushroom in my mouth so I excused myself and spat it out in a napkin. To my utmost horror , it began moving . It was a LIVE slug and a massive one at that. I was absolutely disgusted and asked my husband to flag it with the staff as I couldn't even bring myself to speak. I have since been contacted by their complaints team ( only after I called, messaged and chased them for a response ) . They have basically shifted the entire blame onto their suppliers who send them pre washed salad but it was rather astounding when the manager told me that they " dont really look as it comes prewashed". We are the end customers and come to this establishment because of its name and not some distributor they have contracted. They have a duty of due care towards their customers, which has been breached. The grievance team advised that i will have to wait to hear back from them till their initial enquiries have culminated. It is surprising that I should have to wait for an internal process after this act of gross negligence .I have since followed up with another email to ask what steps have been taken to prevent this from happening again but I have not had the courtesy of a response. It frankly shows their poor attitude towards the wellbeing of their customers. I could not find it within myself to stay silent about this as it is a genuine matter of public health and safety. I sincerely hope they will take strict action although it is my opinion that they want to do as little as possible regarding this given the absolute lack of communication. I would not be visiting them again, I cannot shake that horrid feeling of having to spit the slug out. It has definitely put me off veggies... and mushrooms for a while.

Further response: thank you , Amanda. It wasn't resolved during our call unfortunately, they mentioned they will get in touch via email but they haven't yet. I understand this is out of your control as you are not the one contacting me ,rather helping me chase your company . Please ask them to revert on email by Friday latest as this would be two weeks post...

The service was terrible! Right from entering the premises we were greeted with an empty bar and had to wait a few minutes before we found someone. They told us to just pick a table and let them know what number it was. We decided to order via the app and shortly after the waitress put some cutlery on our table, starter course arrived and all was OK. Then the waitress came to clear the table ready for the mains. She accidentally dropped a ramekin and sauce went all over the floor, up my daughters leg and splashed my trousers. OK it was an accident BUT never once did she apologise, she just picked up the ramekin and walked off. Not even acknowledging what had happened. I didn't say anything as I thought she would come back and clean up the mess and apologise. 5 minutes later she came back with our mains and totally ignored the mess around our table and didn't offer to give us anything to clean up my daughters legs and shoes, and just left the mess on the carpet and walked around it. Luckily my daughter had some wet wipes in my grandaughters pushchair. We started our mains and I was a knife short. Usually in a restaurant someone will come over to check if everything is OK. But not one person came over to us to ask. I tried to catch someones attention twice but was ignored! Eventually I left our table & I went over to a lady stood by the kitchen door who was leaning on the desk with her head in her hands. And asked for a knife, only to be told to wait I'm on the phone. I found this very rude indeed. I had asked for a medium rare steak for my wife which came rare at one end medium in the middle and well done the other end which I found bizarre and so not evenly cooked. Again not one person came over to see us and check up the entire meal and time we were there. If I hadn't already paid online via the app I would have refused to have paid the full amount due to the negative customer experience we recieved and the poorly cooked meal. It was a very dissapointing visit, one that I will not be repeating again. We got up and left still not seeing anyone and with spending over £150 between us left a...
