We stayed in room 6 which was a nice size and basically clean apart from a few hairs on the window cill. The beds were comfortable and we slept well until 7.30 when a member of staff started banging and crashing about in the small yard not far below our window. When I looked out to see what was going on the man in question seemed to be deliberately slamming things down as if he was actually trying to make as much noise as possible. Fortunately this didn't happen on subsequent mornings. We liked the fact that extra tea, coffee and milk was available in the drawers in the corridor but unfortunately stocks were not replenished. We knew that we would be returning late when we went out on Sunday evening and would want a coffee on our return so I went to get some more milk as we had run out. There was no milk in the drawer so as we went out I asked the young lady behind the bar if she could arrange for some milk to be put in our room or for the drawer to be filled up. Neither happened so we were unable to have a drink when we got back. There was a problem with the shower as the lever to switch over to the rainfall head didn't work at all and the hose going to the other fitting had a major leak so most of the water sprayed out instead of coming out of the shower head. Also, the extractor fan didn't work, one light didn't work, the shelf above the sink appeared to be missing and water constantly flowed into the toilet. The T.V. didn't work properly and kept losing the signal. I e-mailed the hotel after our stay to make them aware of these issues as this would give them the opportunity to take steps to rectify things for future guests. I didn't receive a reply. Due to these issues I wouldn't stay there again. On a positive note the chambermaids and breakfast staff that we met were friendly, efficient and helpful.

Superb! Spent two nights here this weekend having travelled from South Wales to attend a gig in Kirkstall Abbey. So glad we booked this place! The hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful and hotel/bar interior stunning! The room was one of the best we've stayed in (room 7).. bathroom enormous with two sinks and a divine waterfall shower. Had two cracking nights sleep and the housekeeping girls were fab, replenishing whatever we needed! The staff are a huge credit to the manager Catherine, who herself was extremely lovely and very friendly! Big shout out to two of the bar girls Lucy & Lily. So friendly! And the food/drinks... yes the reviews stating about the slow service are correct, however, everything else makes up for it! Good beer, fab choice and then there's the food... oh my!! We ate on the first evening and then breakfast in the morning. The Full English was hands down the best I have ever tasted! Top quality! Despite the 5/6 hrs journey, would happily come again and we plan to! Thanks for such a wonderful stay x

So on paying the bill, I was told we were just 'unlucky'. The pros. Nice venue, plenty of parking, staff greeting was good food was a little unique mixed with Yorkshire classics. The cons the first drink order was lost. Food was not available only told after first course. Then the replacement was not available. Then my meal was kept on heat, as the veggies had stuck together. Then forgot another round of drinks. Then offered free deserts as a goodwill gesture. Still we were charged £2 for them. Then checked the bill and this was wrong too. We only had one child but 2 children's meals. At one point we renamed it faulty towers. All in all this is spoons, with 200% prices and no table numbers. PS It was £100 for 2 adults and a child's meal.the final insult was paying the bill and the manager saying you got all the issues tonight and next time will be better. Lol 😂

Regrettably, my visit left much to be desired. It was evident that the establishment was short-staffed. However, the quality of the food fell short, and considering the price, the portions were disappointingly small. The steaks lacked seasoning, were improperly cooked, and ended up tough and dry. The prawn skewer, which lacked king prawns, was bland, devoid of any discernible chilli or garlic flavour. Additionally, the accompanying salad appeared to be store-bought salad which wasn’t coleslaw as described; it was dry, wilted, and seemingly past its prime with noticeable discoloration.

The pizza suffered from scant toppings and a lack of sufficient base sauce, with barely any cheese, resulting in essentially a bare piece of bread with minimal toppings.

The signature burger boasted delightful flavours, and the chips were enjoyable. However, the scant portion of chips and the diminutive size of the burger left my plate looking bare, resulting in a disappointing and unsatisfying meal.

Service was also lacking, with nearly an hour's wait for food and drinks taking 20 to 30 minutes to arrive. While I empathise with the waitress due to the understaffing issue, ultimately, it falls on management to ensure adequate staffing, particularly on a busy Friday evening with favourable weather conditions.

Overall, the experience was subpar, and the entire table felt disappointed. While a 20% discount was offered due to the unsatisfactory food quality, even with this concession, the evening was marred, leaving a lasting negative impression. I cannot recommend dining...

The hotel is well appointed and in nice grounds. I enjoyed hearing the local owls hooting. The bars and restaurant are really neat and tidy and well presented and the real fires add warmth and cosy feeling. My room was excellent although I think it caught the heat from the fire downstairs as I think the chimney ran by my room. There was a damp smell coming from my bathroom although my bathroom was well equipped with a very nice shower. The staff serving me dinner and a drink in the bar were excellent as were the people who dealt with me on arrival for check in etc. Service at breakfast was a little slow. I ordered porridge and it was mostly warm and came with granola and honey. Very nice. But I couldn't see why it took so long to arrive and part of it was cold so I guess it had been microwaved. Therefore I couldn't see why it too so long as the restaurant had only one other person in it when I went for breakfast, Furthermore, when I tried to sit nearer the Kitchen in/out door ie closer rather than near the table with the tea/coffee and juice station your staff member (a woman) was pretty off with me, moving me back to where the stations were. Then not long after I'd finished my porridge my full breakfast arrived. It was very good but had the porridge been quicker there'd have been a more sensible gap. I've marked things down a little due to the bathroom smell but mainly because of breakfast (late and semi cold porridge from microwave and the attitude of...
