I regularly go to the Green Welly and I've always had a pleasant experience in the past. However popping in for a quick takeaway coffee proved to be nothing but pleasant!
Rather than receiving my takeaway coffee in reasonable time I ended up waiting 10 minutes only to learn my takeaway was at the bottom of a very long queue for other table orders.
The main issue I have is the way I was spoken to by the staff and how they made me feel for not understanding they had lots of tickets ahead of mine.
There's no way I could have known that there were a load of tickets before my order as I was not informed that there would be any sort of a wait for a takeaway.
I feel the owner was rude and one of the stuff even rolled their eyes at me when I eventually and kindly asked for a refund.
It's a real shame as being a regular patron for many years they have now lost my continued business and that of my friends and family too just for the sake of some polite communication and some customer service.
This is a small business I can see is trying its best but fundamentally its forgen that its customers, reputation and word of mouth mean something if they want to be successful.

Read moreI would’ve emailed to say about this but I can’t see an email address on the website so have had to leave a review. I came with my 7 month old baby and was really disappointed to see what despite the toilet being huge there was no changing table. It’s not really acceptable to not have any provision for baby changing, it’s as important as disabled access in my opinion. I had to change my baby on the window ledge as he doesn’t like to be changed on the floor but he got upset as it was so hard. I think it’s a real shame that mothers and babies are often not thought about even though they are a big part and an important part of society, it’s hard enough being a new parent without going to a cafe and finding there’s nowhere to...
Read moreBack again for a friends birthday present. Once again, lovely food and friendly service. I love The Green Welly. Such a warm, friendly, welcome each time I have been (three times). All the staff are lovely.
The food is delicious, freshly prepared/cooked on site. My lunch, the salmon and dill quiche was absolutely scrumptious, very tasty and oh!, melt in your mouth pastry. My friend also raved about her chilli, prawn and mayonnaise sandwiches, parcelled up very rustically.
The courtyard is a delightful setting to enjoy too. All in all, a very enjoyable and reasonably priced, place to eat.
Thank you Sue and...
