New review, my ratings are the same as my previous ones, however I'd like to discuss our recent visit to highlight the positives of our recent visit yesterday on May 21st 2025
Went here for a lovely day out with my family, they were able to cater to 3 different dietary requirements ("Regular", 1 Vegetarian and 2 Vegans) and the one allergen (Peanuts + Hazelnuts) in our party there were also 3 different age groups in our party, a small child (Under 2), 4 young adults (the 4 of us are in our 20s) and my parents (both over 50) and we all left satisfied and happy with the meal out
Firstly, I'll talk about what really made the visit Nile was the server for our group and he was lovely, he was always attentive and friendly with the group and even allowed me to use his tablet to check the allergens as the online allergen guide was not working on my end. He also checked in with the kitchen for dietaries with us and made the overall experience really pleasant. He had checked that our table was good a couple of times and offered additional condiments to what were on our table He also had a lovely interaction with my nephew as he waved back at him when he was waving and he had given us a child pack for my nephew at the start of the meal.
The restaurant was tidy, clean and well kept, there was plenty of space to both be seated and to park the car. Service was done at a lovely pace as it gave us enough time to speak as a family but it wasn't slow and dragging -- it was perfectly paced for a casual meal out.
As for food, it was all clean tasting and fresh, I rated it 3 as I like to rate to my personal taste which is that what we had was okay, my personal favourites were the loaded hummus and the vegan sundae best. I was one of the two vegans in our group, I shared 4 small plates with my partner and had also had salad, you get a good amount of food for a light lunch for 2 in the small plates deal. We started on the tacos, I liked the sauce on them but the texture of the vegan meat alternative was not for me, I found it dry and rubbery but my partner, who is new to veganism enjoyed it so it's to each their own. I don't think the flavours really felt like tacos though đ , the nachos were the next thing we'd had and I'm gonna be honest, I'm not a nacho person, I kinda just ordered them as there were 4 vegan plate options so we got one of each, they were as you'd expect, cardboard nachos with sauces to taste, the only sauce I enjoyed was the yellow one that I honestly don't remember the name of but it had a sweet and slightly spicy flavour. The next thing we had was the loaded hummus flatbread and nothing about this was bad for me, I enjoyed the softness of the flatbread, I liked the creaminess of the hummus and the toppings all worked with the dish, I especially liked the addition of the black beans. Finally, we had the garlic bread and it was the same soft texture as that of the hummus flatbread but I honestly miss the old vegan ciabatta as it was a safe food of mine and the garlic was more infused into the dish rather than just slathered on.
The sundae was nice, it was a pleasant suprise that they do a vegan waffle cone and that 3 of the sauces they offer are vegan, as someone who doesn't go for vanilla ice cream it was good to hear there was a selection of vegan sauces as I found that mixing the sauce into the vanilla made the flavour match my own taste.
I'd also had the elderflower fizz drink which was a lovely refreshing addition to the meal and I would recommend getting it.
All in all, the harvester is a good classic place to visit with family and friends for a casual hang out or catch out, the friendless and service is immaculate here but it wouldn't be my first place...
Read moreI am absolutely appalled by the behaviour of two staff members. Myself, my mom and my daughter visited this afternoon. Our waitress, Bev, came over to take our order. She asked if we had any offers, and my mom asked if they were still doing the wowcher deal. Bev said they were, but told us to âget the voucher firstâ and she would bring us the relevant menus. We explained we would need a few minutes to purchase it online, and she said that was fine. We purchased the ÂŁ40 option. She came over 10 minutes later and said, âoh actually, itâs not on on a Saturdayâ we were absolutely gobsmacked and explained we had just brought it after she said it was on, and that she would get our wowcher menus. We asked to speak to the manager (Susan)
After nobody came back to see us I walked to the front of the restaurant to find 2 staff members and the manager having a chat. I asked what was going to happen. Susan told me that Wowcher wasnât currently on and that she would do us a 2 course lunch menu that we would need to pay for on top of what we had spent on wowcher. I explained that we had just spent ÂŁ40 due to her staff member saying that wowcher was running that day, and that we didnât have extra money on top of that. She said âwell youâre not using your Wowher here so what do you wantâ she continued to soeak to me in an extremely abrupt manor, to the point I asked her not to speak to me like that. She told me she was willing to do nothing else, and acted like I should be grateful. She said that it was a misunderstanding, and that her staff member (Bev) was partly responsible. I said it was 100% not our faults, and Bev said âI did say look at the t&câsâ which she absolutely did not. My mom cane over as I said I was leaving due to the way I was treated, and apparently Susan said she would knock some money off due to a âpartial misunderstanding from the staff memberâ
I honestly have never received such terrible customer service. We went to McDonaldâs opposite and can honestly say that the service there was 100% better than the shambles at Bassets...
Read moreSo I decided to have breakfast with my dad, uncle and sons for my birthday at this establishment. I won't be eating there again.
We arrived at 10.50 and was seated a after a short wait at the door. The restaurant was half full and the staff looked rushed off their feet. It was over 30 minutes before our order was taken and it had gone 12 by the time our food was served.
The staff were all stressed and rushed and just that spoilt the experience,
My dad's meal was missing beans, my sons was missing toast and my uncles was missing hash browns. All the food was lukewarm, the poached eggs were in a bath of water and the hash browns crumbled into a heap.
I was happy to just not come back but after visiting another harvester for breakfast a few days later I had to write this review.
Not only is the floor and kitchen poorly run but the staff were taking it out on the customers. The older lady with short black hair served us, when my dad and uncle ordered a second coffee we were told that they don't do refills and we'd have to pay for another, which was fine at the time but she was lying, you get free refills, we also asked for some honey and was told the menu has changed and they don't have honey anymore, just for me to have some elsewhere a few days later. Before we left the waitress went out of her way to visit our table and tell us she wouldn't serve us again if we ordered a meal out of the...
