My sister and her friends attended the Three Tuns last night to celebrate her 16th birthday, hence why I am writing the review. As a former manager of a restaurant myself, I am beyond appalled at what this restaurant calls 'service'.
It took 10 minutes before anyone approached them for a drink order, with no apology or introduction from the server. Once they finally ordered, it took 40 minutes for the server to come over and tell them they had run out of one of the starters the girls had ordered. 40 minutes for a starter is disgusting, had that been the time they actually received them, especially considering they were never told about a wait; the table next to them of a similar size ordered 20 minutes after and received theirs within 10 minutes. It then took a further 20+ minutes to receive the starters.
The mains took an equally long time to come out, with one of the girls even approaching the group of talking servers stood by the pass asking about their food as they could see it waiting on the hotplate for over ten minutes. Once they finally got given their mains, the food wasn't even good, leading me to believe that the only reason people come here and pay these prices is for the 'instagrammable aesthetic' of the decoration and cocktails, not because the food is any good. There was zero check-back about the quality of the food also.
After they finished their mains (or as much as they could stomach) they were left with empty plates for over an hour, and once cleared they still weren't asked about the quality of their food, and as young girls they were uncomfortable attempting to catch one of the unapproachable staff flouncing by or the chatty servers who didn't move from the pass for 20 minutes at a time.
They ordered dessert and apparently the staff thought they'd do an encore of their performance with the starters as half an hour after ordering them they were informed that they had run out of some of the desserts despite their iPad claiming they had ample stock beforehand. Now, the fact it happened twice to only their table leads me to believe that this is not a simple mistake. Nearby tables who'd ordered the same thing AFTER somehow received their order despite stock in a restaurant being first come first serve, or should I say it would be in a respectable restaurant. I fully believe that when they oversold on things they looked at the tables and thought 'Those young girls will be less likely to kick up a fuss if we tell them we're out', as in any other commercial kitchen in the world you would realise an oversell quicker than 40 minutes. No other table seemed to experience such long waits either. My mother was sat outside waiting to take them home and saw multiple families arrive well after our group did but come out significantly quicker.
Furthermore, after causing the girls to be there for so long, they were extremely quick to point to a QR code and say 'pay online' and walk away. Again, not asking about the quality of their food or experience and they did not even finish clearing the dessert crockery before telling them to pay. At no point were the staff apologetic about the mixups or the waits either.
Overall, this restaurant took 3.5 hours of my sister and her friends' lives they will never get back, and the food wasn't even good enough to finish. I'd only recommend this place to people who like to take pictures, as it looks good at first but is a total...
Read moreI went to this pub as I enjoyed a visit to the Swan at Walton a while ago and understood that it is part of the same chain. I arrived but had not made a reservation just to be told I could only eat in the bar area which in all honesty was roomy and had a nice feel to it. I scanned the bar and noticed a number of real ale pumps but they only were showing London Pride. I asked the bar staff if London Pride was the only one they had and he answered yes we have that and went to get a glass to pour me one I stopped him and asked again to which he answered it was the only one they had so I opted for a pint of Estrella. I chose a seat in the window as I could also then see the kitchen then went to the bar again and asked for a menu which I was told there was none having questioned how I could get something to eat I was then to be told sorry I will get you one (very strange). I chose the sliders which I had enjoyed at The Swan and returned to my seat having orderd at the bar. lookin at the kitchen I noticed there was a number of chip pots under the lights and had been there a while. The food arived quick and I noticed the chips had come from under the lights, they were look warm and lost a bit of their crisp but were light and tasty in the middle and well seasoned. I started the sliders with the beef burger which was excellent and followed it with the cajun chiken which I think had brie on it which was a little suprise but the chicken had a nice kick to it. Now I had saved the pulled pork to the last as I really enjoyed it but was disappointed as it was dry and burnt. At this stage some people would say did I send it back the answer is no as I believe that a restauant should be judged on what comes out of the kitchen and it certainly was not unedible. I have to also comment on the slaw as well as I found this to be watery and although fresh tasting disappointing. There is no doubt it is well thought of for food as the dinning room was getting full so maybe I caught them in between service but if I have a thought to return I think I will reserve a table and eat a bit later instead of around six. There was also a lady and gent arrived and she was told there was not her wine she usually had and they could not sit at a certain table as it was reserved although she said when she called they were told they could not reserve a table in the bar area which again was a bit strange. There was a number of staff on duty and a sweep under one or two of the tables would not have gone a miss but maybe I was just not enthralled by the food that I noticed...
Read moreDecided to stop off at the three tuns on the way back from a shopping trip, me and a friend booked it on the way for 5pm in the garden room. We turned up at 4.40pm which understandably is a little early but we let the staff know either way just in case the table was ready early… we were instead told “ have a drink at the bar and come back to us closer to 5pm” by a male member of staff with which we were happy to do so seeing as we were early but didn’t expect the abrupt tone, we then stood at the bar for a while confused as no one was behind the bar and no staff were intending to serve us, so instead we helped ourselves to the free water at the side of the bar and waited outside where the tables were covered in empty glasses and nothing was clean.
We decided to go back in at 5pm exactly and a nicer lady said “ oh you’re the first ones up there , follow me”, in which we did very confused because the previous waiter had made it seem like our table wasn’t available but when we got upstairs into the garden room , the lights were out and the room hadn’t been unlocked. Nothing was explained to us as to why this was.
We sat down and the lady said she’d be back up to take our order in a few minutes … we then never saw her face again!! ( bear in mind we were the only table up there for a while). So we ordered our drinks and food on the app and only then did a different lady come up after she’d brought a new group of people up and ask if we were okay ( as we still had menu’s on the table ) and we said we’d ordered on the app ( obviously because no one was acknowledging us). Our drinks arrived via a guy named Ashley I think, he was the only one we saw constantly coming into the room and serving tables and actually seeming like he wanted to be there. The food came and it was absolutely incredible but not once did anyone check up on our table to see if the food was ok or if we needed any drinks… me and my friend have been to two other chilled pubs and the three tuns was a disappointment in regards to the service. We even left ( after paying on the app because no waiter bothered to acknowledge our table) and not one member of staff bothered to speak to us or ask if the food was ok. You could have literally left without paying and they probably wouldn’t...
