Called to make reservation and was told no ptoblem 2 people just walk in. On arrival we were ushered to a table for 2 in busiest part of the restaurant and I asked could we sit somewhere quieter and was resfused point blank.(felmale floor managet rude and abrupt)
Ordered food from al carte menu soup, dim sum platter and 2 mains.
Hot n sour soup was amazing, really spot on best ive had in a long time. Female waitress was efficient and a little character very good.
Dim sum platter was average but edible.
Mains came we ordered fillet steak black pepper on sizzling platter. The platter was cold to the touch. Whe n we asked if it could be transfered to a sizzling platter the angry female manager said if we wanted the platter sizzling the we should have asked for it. Never in 50 years of visiting chinese resaurants in Liverpool have i be told that. Anyway the dish returned to the table this time on a hot platter except eot it was beef cantonese and not beef black pepper (was not fillet steak either as advertised was silked skirt beef cheap knock off). Anyway wasnt what was ordered. The second main course was crispy chilli chicken with soft noodles the dish arrived tasted very tangy overpowering and was crispy atter no chicken inside. This is imported frozen rubbish not reataurant quality.
Didnt eat the main courses or rice or noodles but where told we would have to pay for one main course another manager came and sorted it out we paid for what we had souo amd starter and left.
Wouldn't go back kr...
Read moreHighly likely 1 of the best chippy's in Liverpool. It is in West Derby area and has been a very popular take away. It is attached to the Chinese restaurant and really is a nice place to go get your food.
It is a very busy chippy and people come from miles around to order here. It doesn't do deliveries. It also doesn't take card, its cash only. However, I don't know of any Chippys in Liverpool that take card.
The staff are different here, they are typical scouse woman who are fast on their feet, and on the go. They're friendly but busy, which can come across as off putting. However, when you deal with the public you expect to experience all types of personalities. No messing around or falseness, just genuine personalities, who get the job done to get you on your way to the feeding frenzy at home.
I'd say the name of the chippy signifys why its name is what it is, as you do get jumbo size portions lol The FOOD IS ALWAYS SPOT ON and I most definitely recommend...
Read moreWe ordered 6 meals. One was sweet and sour pork which was pretty much all gristle.
We ordered beef in oyster sauce and chicken in oyster sauce. The two sauces were totally different colours, the chicken dish was full of peppers with a couple of mushrooms whilst the beef one was brimming with mushrooms and few peppers.
Service was VERY slow. The starters were OK but do have to say the prawn toast was outstanding. One of us had tempura battered sweet potato. The batter was more like the stuff you get in a fish and chip shop, not tempura at all, and very bland and tasteless.
When we asked for the bill we waited 15 minutes and had to ask for it a second time, even then, it was another 5 minutes coming.
Yes, it is a very busy restaurant but with enough staff the wait should be reasonable. Our mains took over 25 minutes to arrive after the entree!
Overall, not a great experience and one we wont be repeating, shame as the prawn toast was...
