I’ve been to two Christmas afternoon events with entertainment Motown afternoon 7th December, I was unaware there was a set menu, purely my error as I hadn’t read the email properly but the Carvery was not to my taste. The General Manager Phil was extremely accommodating, arranging for me to have Hake plus Potatoes & Vegetables from the Carvery. My party of 4 really enjoyed the afternoon, Food, Service and Entertainment was excellent. On 14th December I’d arranged for 6 people to attend the 60’s afternoon party, again food, service and entertainment were excellent but 2 people felt it lacked the atmosphere of a Christmas Party, they were uncomfortable that members of the general public were coming in and out to dine although they were guided to a different area. They had expected it to be be in a separate room and all revellers celebrating Christmas. I understand that due to Economic circumstances in the Lockdown followed by the cost of living crisis, the Hospitality sector has suffered more than most, personally, I understand the reason for maximising potential profit but although they enjoyed the afternoon, it was not what they expected.

Just had the carvery dinner here and it was inedible. The whole place is designed to have little to no interaction with the customer. You have to scan a QR code to order and wait for someone to bring your drinks. If you are having the carvery you go up and show your e mailed receipt to the guy serving the meat and that is the last you see of a staff member. The two members of staff we spoke to (one who brought our drinks and one who served our meat) were both polite and friendly. However you can see they are understaffed because tables weren't being cleared. The beef was so tough we couldn't cut through it. The potatoes and stuffing was so dry we couldn't cut through those either. I quite literally left almost my whole plate bar maybe 3 mouthfuls. My partner ordered an extra Yorkshire Pudding and it was so full of grease it was swimming round the plate. It's a family friendly pub so we expected kids noise. But we didn't expect adults screaming at kids who were simply being kids. Would not recommend.

Upon arrival we were warned there was a 25-45 minute wait for food even though we’d pre-booked the table, accepting this and willing to wait we took our seat. After ordering via the app as advised our waiter supplied us with cutlery and left us to serve others. Our drinks arrived around 15 minutes after ordering and food followed 30 minutes later. The 2 steak were cooked well and to taste but the burger on the other hand was cremated along with the bun. In the description it states ‘shredded lettuce’ but out came a giant leaf plonked on the said charred burger. Unfortunately this was for my son who is autistic and only eats minimal foods. After seeing and tasting the burger he no longer wanted to eat it. I explained to our server who didn’t know what to do and basically shrugged and apologised. Nothing was done, no partial refund offered or any other option given. Truly disappointing!

Just wow from entering to leaving what an amazing experience greeted by a gent who checked our table was ready (we where early and accommodated right away) as soon as we sat our server was asking if we needed anything advised that the app is fast service but it's no problem ordering from them so the app we went

Easy to navigate clear ingredients and pricing

We ordered a fair bit of food expecting a delay along with the carvery order we had

The lovely servers came over confirmed our order and e planned our receipt would access the carvery and off we went

I myself ordered off a different menu as I'm not a huge carvery fan (sorry)

Even so as soon as my family sat down my food was being delivered and my gods what a meal it was

Loaded nachos pulled pork I had a HUGE portion but it was amazing fresh ingredients and just delicious

Steak pie was so hot I had to cut it open and let it cool but that was OK as I had onion rings too and just .......urgh so good

The family had carvery and the food was well made piping hot and very fresh nothing dry or inedible we devoured everything

My son particularly enjoyed the mash he said it was fluffy and buttery perfection

Those Yorkshire puds where ridiculously big haha

Our drinks where spot on we only had draught pop but still spot on option of no ice little ice or ice we went with little and a couple cubes was just right

As we where leaving I decided on a crumble and custard sadly they had run out of custard but I didn't care I was in a great mood amd so had it with vegan ice cream and it didn't disappoint had it to go and scoffed it before I got home it was perfect

Over all an amazing experience we where in fed and out in less than an hour and would have happily spent alot more time in there if I had any space in my gut to keep eating

Compliments to the chef the staff just 100% recommend and definitely...

We arrived at 4-45 pm on Thursday 4 April , waited about 5 mins for someone to come to us at the entrance . We were told by the gentleman working there there would not be a table until 6-30 pm ! The place was less than half full ! We left but realised there was an option to book a table , so we booked for 5-15 pm . Went back in and the same gentleman came to us and didn’t seem surprised that we could book a table and just said ok see you at 5-15 it was then 4-55 . No apology as a table had miraculously become available . I asked if we could go to the bar to get a drink whilst waiting because yes . He also stated earlier that they had a lot of bookings for 5 pm . We stood at the bar until 5-15 and 3 lots of people arrived in that time one group of 4 and 2 others of 2 people . There was plenty of tables that us 3 could have sat at . I said to my friends watch him disappear at 5-10 ! Bang on queue he took a call and wandered in and out of the pub , we waited from 5-15 till nearly 5-20 until another lady came to us and we said we have a table booked she checked and said I will make sure your table is cleaned and ready , then proceeded to walk to a table I know to have been empty for the last 30 minutes !!! Wow . What a waste of our time when we could have been sat down eating our food so that we could be on our way and freeing up the table for others . The gentleman who looked to be in charge never arrived back into the pub after his embarrassment from earlier . Whilst the food was really good the service and customer skills left a lot to be desired . I would be interested to know the reasons for the blatant lies of there being no table when there was clearly...

Carvery was very average to poor. I think the guy carving the meat must have served his time with British rail. Apart from the thin and mean portions of meat the rest was average too and appeared to have been sat there for ages. The other issue was the difficulty of getting a drink. I was stood at the bar for 5 minutes but when it was my turn the barmaid served someone that had just walked thro the door. Staff need to serve people much faster and in the correct order. Or put more staff on duty. Drink prices very high too together with the average food means that I can only just give you an average rating of 3 stars which is being generous . Clean pub but the level of service, staff training and food quality needs improving a lot. Its nearly as hard to get a drink here as it is in wetherspoons.. Update after owners response. Perhaps I should have made it clearer that I was only buying a drink not food on the day it took ages to serve me and someone who just walked through the door was served before me. I did tell the barmaid but it did no good. My comments regarding the average food was on a previous visit. My advice to the management still stands. Train your staff to serve customers promptly and most importantly in the correct order. Staff and management are very poor.. Just look at at the hundreds of bad reviews. Are you you...
