Went for lunch with my wife and aunt. Were the first one's in so didn't really need to have booked. Had a choice of seating. They'd only just opened so it took a while to warm up but eventually it was comfortable. Reasonable if not exceptionally long menu but had everything you'd expect from a Turkish restaurant. Given we were the only ones there I would say the service was excellent 👌🏾. Food was freshly made and everything including drinks on point. Only minor let down was that they'd run out of Merlot for our aunt but the house red was pretty good by way of replacement. One thing to note is that they obviously allow a takeaway and delivery service, so be aware that there may be some foot traffic. That said it's a nice, well appointed eaterie and worth a visit for sure. Oh and they portion sizes are good. Don't be afraid to ask for a doggie bag; they will happily box up your leftovers.

I ordered a takeaway only to be overcharged and I had to inform them, could be an error but I doubt it. Next time my takeaway had cold bread. Third time lucky some would say, well no it wasn't. I decided to eat in on the 'eat out to help out scheme', arrived to be greeted by scattered chairs and dirty tables. There was no salad with my meal so I questioned this and was informed it would be brought over, only to then be told they had run out, clearly hoping I'd never notice. No discount off the bill until I pushed for this, disgusting service. It's discounted I know through the scheme but that's footed by the government and ultimately the tax payer in due course, you cant advertise it comes with salad yet not provide it or inform people of this.....wont go back.

Before discuss the VERY poor customer service - I should point out that anyone concious about safety during the pandemic should be aware that the employees here were handling food with their bare hands.

We have ordered with this restaurant both eat in and takeaway since they opened. Eating in we have generally had a good experience foodwise though the wait has always been a little long.

The same has always been said for their home delivery. No matter their stated wait time, you will always get an email adding 10 minutes which often brings a 45 minute wait to nearly an hour. Delivery is also often late on top of that, we have previously had to wait an hour and a half for a delivery we were told would take 50 minutes. We have also had some problems with the delivery drivers. We once had an incident where the driver was actually taking our food back to the car with the intention of taking it back to the restaurant - because our dog was barking behind the closed door. I'm not sure why a man who is scared of dogs would be a delivery driver but he actually had the intention of not delivering our food because he heard our TOY POODLE barking.

Despite this we persevered as we enjoy the style of food and want to support local businesses. Today, however, was the straw that broke the camel's back. Having ordered takeaway we received a phonecall informing us that they had no delivery drivers and we would have to come and get it - despite it being 30 degree heat I drove round to collect. They kindly offered to give us something on the house (we had assumed a dish from our order). Upon arrival I was stood in a mask with people walking past me within the advised 2 metre distance (no one told me where would be a good place to wait out of the way).I was waiting for an extra 5 minutes as the order was not yet prepared.

I was finally given the food and was told that we had got a free pot of hummus (which we don't order or even really eat). We told them it was unacceptable service and I even had to point out to them that, though they had stopped offering delivery on their own website, I had checked before going in and I could still order on deliveroo. After pointing out the poor service we were told 'ok'. We then said we would leave a bad review and were told again 'ok'.

From now on we will not be visiting the Golden Skewer as despite the rebrand, the customer service is left wanting. We will be trying LEFKE in Upminster...

Great Friday Night Meal with Friends Norman, Norman, Norman, Norman you said I would like it you were wrong I LOVED IT. Great Service, Great Great Food, and Just a lovely calm dining experience with four friends a real taste of Turkey. Food was promised to be the 'best' by Manager Jan when we sat down and he wasn't lying. Three of us shared the Family Platter lovely juicy Lamb Chops, Pork Ribs that were succelent, Beautifully cooked Lamb Shish, and Chicken that was lovely and just not dry at all. All onto of well cooked fries and fragant rice, it was filling but we couldnt stop diving in. Our friends had different to us one had Shish and Chips with a fresh vibrant salad, and another Halloumi Wrap ..her words Gorgeous. A glass of the wonderful EFES (or two)Beer was welcome. There is a full menu lots of choice and cater for all tastes. Service by young lady (sorry we didnt get your name ) was polite ,professional and patient...as we took our time to decide ...thank you two for holding the door open for us when we left...its the little bits that make you come back and appreciate good service. The chefs/cooks are within view and they work hard at making sure your meal is excellent. Starters of lovely turkish bread and a selection of beautiful dips(chilli one WOW) and Olives. All in all great value a great way tro share a meal with friends and friendily welcoming staff in a clean, well run resturants, oh by the way the toilets are clean and hygenic. We will return as a family, a couple, or with friends. Great Night out THANK YOU...
