I booked this place for my birthday and asked for a quiet table i.e. not too close to others as I have a hearing impairment. I put this in the booking notes that I made a couple of weeks in advance.
On arrival, I reminded them of this as obviously it is important for me to be able to enjoy a restaurant as much as someone without a hearing problem. The guy at the entrance started to say how he wasn't sure whether he could fulfill my request. I pointed out that I gave them plenty of notice and they had my phone number if there was an issue. I was embarrassed and frank with them but I was polite at all times. The guy then said he'd have to call the manager over, adding to my embarrassment of having to explain my impairment again.
The manager had a similar attitude which was further disappointing. Quite honestly, I felt humiliated in front of my guests. I don't think in 2022, you should have to plead your case to have reasonable adjustments made. It's not like I was asking much.
In the end, we were seated away from others and in fairness, the manager did ask whether I'd like the music turned down. Unfortunately, I already felt like rubbish. He wouldn't have known this but the previous year, my birthday involved a bereavement and so this one was especially tricky.
Luckily, our server was fantastic and did not make me feel unwelcome or embarrassed at all although I never really shook those negative feelings from before. Food was good apart from the lobster tails - they were overcooked and dry.
I gave feedback through the M&C website and a chap named kojo replied quickly saying there would be an investigation. That was a month ago and I've heard nothing despite sending a chaser. Seems they don't give a hoot. :( I've been to a few of these restaurants and have always had a positive experience but I feel incredibly uncomfortable about going back here. Not that it should matter but we spent approx £100per head - that's the value of business lost plus we've advised others not to go here.
Thanks for making a tricky birthday more difficult.

Read moreFirst time and I will not go back. My wife and I went out for dinner and the food was just okay, nothing special.
We had the Burrata and king Prawns. Burrata was nice but the beetroot was hard and could have been sliced instead of just hard chunks. Kings Prawns were very nice even though they still have the head and tails on them. We also ordered the bread but this came out too late to use with the starters. This was again big chunks not nicely sliced. However the bone marrow & beef dripping butter was nice.
For the main we ordered the BUTCHER'S BLOCK. Couldn’t tell the difference between the steaks. They came all piled together with a bone on top with no marrow not sure what that was for. They all tasted the same and it would have been nice to have been told what was what.
The best part of the meal was the quarter of iceberg lettuce just dumped in a bowl with some dressing. You must throw a lot of this out. Waste of an order and looks so stupid.
For dessert we ordered the CRÈME BRÛLÉE this was very nice and looked great, the other dessert was the STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING. This looked like it came straight out of a microwave and tasted the same. It came out so quick the waiter didn’t even have enough time to get the spoons ready.
Total came to about £140.00, overall some of the food was nice but most was a let down, for that amount you would expect all of it to have been good or better. But you get what you pay for and I should have just gone to KöD or Gaucho.
On a plus side the staff are nice and look...
Read moreNice looking upscale interior and plenty of tables available when we came on a Wednesday evening. Wait staff was friendly and got us our drinks promptly. However, despite it being morgue quiet, the food took quite a while to arrive.
Also, I had asked if the mushrooms could be omitted from the hake dish, which the server took note, but what she failed to do was inform me that my dish would not have the sauce as a result. I told the server I just didn’t like mushrooms, so my request was not due to allergens. Had I known that no sauce would be added, I would’ve just left it and picked the mushrooms out myself.
When the server (a young man this time) brought out the food, he asked about substituting another sauce for the hake, but because we had been waiting for so long, I had gone to the toilet, leaving the rest of my party to answer on my behalf, which was an “I don’t know.” The server said he would come back later with the hake, but then the original server, who had taken our orders, just brought out my dish before I even returned to the table. At that point, I couldn’t be bothered to ask about the alternative sauce, since everyone else had started eating.
The hake was cooked nicely, but I won’t know how the dish should’ve tasted because it had no sauce. I didn’t like the slightly cooked whole stalk of spring onion draped across the fish—too acrid. As well, the mashed potatoes were stodgy and had developed a skin, as if they had been sitting out for a while.
Toilets were really stinky and the floor in the...
