Looking at the other reviews i thought to try this restaurant out however was disappointed with the taste. Presentation 10/10 Taste 02/10 Service 5/10
The taste doesn't really seemed to be Indian although the restaurant itself states best curry in croydon however it didn't seemed to be near to best. Food was bland, plain and tasteless . I ordered spicy potatoes as the main dish and to my disappointment didn't seem to taste the spice in it at all. Better off eating boiled potatoes.
Loved the Ginger Fizz drink though, made perfectly well.
Ordered Ragda Pattice which didnt look like Ragda Pattice at all, it was all dry textured. It must not be dry and in a plate, it should be in a bowl with different chutneys and more of a thick soupy consistency with savoury Sev on top.
Definitely not an authentic taste of indian food, more of Bangladeshi flavours. Service was okayish , requested then to change the table cos the place where i was didnt have any network and my 2 yr old was throwing tantrums to watch her cartoon on youtube. Asked them if we could move to another one before ordering the mains and was told yes and in 10 mins we were told that the table was reserved with no reserved sign on it only to know that actually it was not reserved at all. It was offered to a walk in customer who came in before we left.
Pricing wise i would pay a bit extra and get the authentic taste and better service.
PS - If the table would have been offered to a different place post starters most probably my little one would not have cried as much and would have let us have dinner cos all she wanted was watch her Nursery rhymes that would have kept her occupied rather sit in the same space where the phone didn’t get any network . It would be better customer service rather your business numbers as it didn’t seem busy as well 3 tables including us were occupied. Never...
Read moreAwful Food! Now very suspicious of most reviews (especially the 4x 5 star reviews after mine all published on the same day and all praising Spon,Spondon,Spandan - despicable!) very disappointed with our visit, even with 50% off Fork deal. Food was AWFUL and only 5 dine in tables total on a Saturday night says it all. Service was ok but sporadic, v delayed and needed many reminders.
Everything was VERY bland and tasteless, lacking in spice and heat even after asking for chef spice and heat not western spice and heat. Specified no coriander in anything and yet 75% of dishes came with coriander. Pakoras were in a strange unseasoned thick puffy dough like batter, utterly tasteless with no spices and the inside containing some bland tasteless meat trying to resemble chicken. Tarka dhall, bland tasteless mush with no tarka and as a bonus coriander was mixed in and garnished on top. Curries appear to use the same bland food coloured base sauce with tasteless chewy meat. Mixed grill - dry, chewy, bland, loads of food colouring and covered in coriander. Lamb shank, disgusting grey boiled in bag look, no marination, slimey texture and covered in same bland base sauce, a disgrace to lamb shanks, try a good Nihari for proper lamb shank.
Didn’t want to write this but felt needed to as a warning to others hard earned wallets - esp now after being more convinced most reviews here are not genuine! Regret I ever found this restaurant and have reported to Google!
Suggest try any of the curries / nihari at anywhere in Tooting / Southall like Watan, Dawat, Lahore Karahi, Mirch Masala, Dishoom, Brigadiers, Trishna etc for true benchmarks and honest reviews from...
Read moreWe booked a table for 14 people for the Sunday buffet menu. When we got seated we ordered poppadoms and chutneys . The poppadoms were brought to the table they were fresh and still warm. We were then told that all the chutneys were in large bowls on the buffet table , but their were no small bowls or containers to bring them to your table in . I have no idea how your were supposed to bring them to your table . Then the buffet meals provided had very little meat in the containers . Even when a new container was brought out it had hardly any food in it and the actual meat content was negligible . The chicken wings were gone in a few seconds and never replaced . The curry's tasted fine but had no substance .Evan the dhal curry was very thin more like a soup than a curry it had no content. At any given time 3 or 4 of the containers were empty and we had to keep asking when they would be renewed. But when they were renewed they had hardly anything in them . Then they took the lids of the hot containers and put them on the floor . And then replaced them on the hot containers . The food tasted OK . But easily the worst Indian buffet i...
