The toilets by the (excellent but small) Car Park announced themselves before we reached the building. A good Bleach hose down and some TLC being desperately needed for Elf, Safety and Environmental needs
The cafe was busy, sadly the staff seemed unhappy at their work. A good menu and excellent coffee more than erased the two initial issues.
The cafe clientele are not upset by nursing mums, who were totally at ease tending to their babies needs.
The Phesantry is much more than a car park, toilet and café. The Deer proof grounds are a wildlife haven.
A local Blackbird was so confident he was charging around just a meter (3 foot!) off the ground shouting at pedestrians while he zig zagged between us!
It's a good, pleasant, walk around the Phesantry on paths which could be used by wheelchairs if they dried out.
The stream through the Phesantry grounds attracts various birds and waterfowl. Please don't bring them Bread, mixed wildbird seed is better - just remember - if we all feed them they will get fat!

Read moreI arranged to meet family today who made a 100 mile round trip to see Bushy Park for their 1st ever visit. It was raining on arrival so we set out a picnic in the covered seating area inside the Pheasantry cafe entrance - only to be told by 3 different staff members during our meal that we (and others) were not allowed to sit there unless we were buying their food. Their manner was brusque & unhelpful & no alternative was suggested. There is no mention of this policy & as all the outside tables under cover were occupied, we had little choice but to eat quickly, pack away our food and go home earlier than planned. We pointed out that we had bought coffees but we're made to feel unwelcome and I am very angry that their first impressions of my local park were so tainted for my family. It should also be noted that our request to kiosk staff for an antiseptic wipe later that afternoon was unsuccessful l as we were told they had just used up the last one! Cafe therefore NOT...
Read moreMy family and I went for coffee and food inside at the cafe on Sunday. While my husband queued I sat down at one of the many empty tables. It was one of two adjacent tables, with no one there. One was piled high with belongings so I sat at the other. After five minutes a woman rudely told me to move as she had 'reserved both tables.' I refused but after suffering considerable abuse from her and her partner, I was forced to move. My husband asked for the manager but she did not come. Others arrived at the table and all started a picnic of their own food, not a bought item in sight. We asked for the manager again and she finally arrived and told them they were not allowed to eat their own food on cafe tables. The party ignored her and stayed put.The management needs to deal more effectively with such 'entitled millenials' if they don't want to lose the patronage of regular older paying customers such as us. The lack of any real support from the manager has left a...
