Bland underwhelming food with very high prices. However decent service and it's a nicely decorated and well maintained pub. Perfect for a few drinks. In terms of the food, I ordered the ultimate burger which is advertised as a 10oz burger with cheese, bacon, lashings of BBQ sauce, burger sauce, tomato, lettuce, red onion, gherkin, onion rings, slaw and skin on fries for a whopping £17.95. Patty sizes were good but my burger was bland, only a little bit of burger sauce noted. Gherkin missing, patty overcooked with no moisture and crumbling. Bread crumbled in my hand as soon as I picked it up even though it was dry. The so called lashings of BBQ sauce is served seperately on the side. It's quite a watery sauce with the consistency of watery gravy. On the plus, chips were nice although I wouldn't exactly call them Skin-on-fries as advertised. They were also quite a small portion. Ultimate burger should come with ultimate chips. Definitely not worth almost £18. This dish also came with two separate onion rings on top and coleslaw on the side. The burger was constructed with a onion ring inside which was quite chewy. On the bottom of the burger they used red onion. It doesn't make sense to have both types of onion on top and bottom, one cooked and one raw with two varying flavours. Wife ordered Chicken ceaser salad which is advertised with croutons, parmesan & anchovies. This was made with basic lettuce, had only four croutons and only three small anchovies. It was also three average sized bits of chicken. This salad was a whopping £13.95. On the plus, ceaser sauce was nice. Very basic and small salad for almost £14. Kids chicken Goujons with chips and baked beans ordered for £7.50. Kids loved the chips but again these chip were too small a portion and only 3 small chicken Goujons provided. In my opinion just average pub food but at a higher than average prices. I attended over the bank holiday weekend so who knows, maybe the ingredients were not as fresh Lastly, the main attraction for me was the advertised play area. It was this that initially attracted me to this pub. I was quite disappointed in it as it is quite basic. It's literally a teepee, a small bridge and a fixed small wooden train. Whilst it looks nice, Kid's got bored after 10 minutes. A slide wouldn't go amiss. Also, not sure if this is staff but bicycles were left on the side of the play area. So if a child runs in to them, there could be an accident. I also attempted to use the app to order but was advised against it by staff, not sure why. Maybe the app is not great. And for those that are interested, this place does not offer blue light card/emergency services discount. Overall, should I go there again, it is a nice pub and friendly staff but I will just stick to the drinks.

After a day at Chessington World of Adventure and unfortunately a lack of food, we decided to search for a local pub for some food and a well deserved drink. We came across The Star, and only a short drive down the road it was ideal. Upon arrival we are promptly catered for (group of 5 including a 2 year old) and we were given sufficient time to choose our drinks and look at the menu. Firstly we ordered 2 X sharing platters, and I guarantee I can speak on behalf of the party, very impressive. Not greasy, tasted fresh and was a decent portion. Would recommend! For mains we had a variety, jacket potatoes, katsu burger and steak ciabatta. Now where do I start... The katsu sauce was delicious, chips crispy with a beautiful aroma (never thought I would say that about a chip) equally it was confirmed, the burger was fantastic. The steak looked beautifully done and confirmed that it was delicious. Now, onto the spuds... Genuinely, I have never had a jacket potato so delicious in my 30 years of living on this planet. I am not one for potato on the average day, so for me to state a potato is delicious is no easy feat. Crispy, fluffy, beautiful chilli, sour cream and sauce to top it off. Honestly I was impressed. (Photo attached, half eaten, it didn't last long) Overall, we all had an outstanding meal, prompt service, very polite, content with pricing and overall a great experience! If I lived local this would definitely be a regular! (Even kiddo was happy, which takes alot) Highly recommend, excellent guys, well done! 💪

I can say for certain that you will get great food and a great service at The Star, and here's why: We visited today for a Sunday lunch, not knowing what it would be like as this was our first visit. It was busy when we arrived, with a party happening as well, which made for a nice atmosphere. We were immediately taken to our seats and offered drinks. There is a good selection of beers (common and local) as well as hot and cold drinks. They have wine and gin menus also on the table. It took maybe 15-20mins for our drinks to arrive, but the waiter apologised, which was understandable for how busy it was. We then ordered a sharing starter platter and mains including ribs, burgers and a pie. Although it was busy, we were frequently informed on our order and weren't ever left wondering and needing to go and ask. When we did receive our food (after about 45mins to an hour), it was cooked fresh and was piping hot, I couldn't fault the food at all, it was brilliant. After our food, a waitress came over to apologise again for the delay and that she would give us a complimentary discount on the food. Even though they gave us the discount, we were more than happy to give a good tip as the service was excellent. They really value their customers. I highly recommend The Star to anyone in the area and want to thank the staff for their excellent service and fantastic food! Will definitely be returning soon.

GOOD: adult meals were excellent and drinks were good. It was 1815 Saturday and, without reservations, we popped in. They sat us at a table reserved for later in the evening and told us they needed the table in an hour and a half which allowed us to get dinner. There were lots of families so the noise level was a bit higher, but a very kid friendly place. Location is between M25 and Chessington so you can leave the park and conveniently get better quality food for about the same price.

So-So: kids meals were a decent size but overcooked. Kids combo chicken goujons were very dark and crispy and my daughter's pasta was so overcooked it was mush. She still liked the flavor of the dish.

BAD: The aforementioned kids combo has onion rings on the menu. Our son had a single small ring on his plate. The combo runs were drenched in a not so good barbecue sauce. We were told they heeded the table at 1945 yet noone came to greet us or take an order for 25 minutes. The table next to us which was seated 5 or so minutes after us had starters on the table before we had placed a drink order. Despite the very late start from being forgotten about, we were on track to be finished and out of the way with time to spare. At 1915 a server came to clear plates, most of which were empty, but my daughter who eats more slowly was still eating. He seemed rushed and on his second load, even though he was told he could clear the empties but our daughter was still eating, took her plate with several bites still on it. It happened as we were reviewing the bill and so quickly neither she nor we could stop him before he was on his way to the kitchen again. We were out a full 20 minutes before they had asked so there was no reason to rush us especially when the staff caused the initial 25 minute delay.

We may go back, but there is another pub, also on they way to M25, just up the road. We will likely give them a...

It has potential, a nice pub, lovely garden with a decent play area for the kids. Unfortunately, we were asked to sit on chairs with no cushions as others had pinched them and doubled up! First drink was poorly made and despite it being 7pm Friday and Spritz being advertised on specials they had no stock to offer anything else on that menu so I ended up changing my preference totally. Staff were friendly and happy to help however we got served by 4 different members of staff which caused a lot of confusion… had to ask 5x for a jug of water! (Temperature was around 27 degrees!) They cooked our coleslaw, didn’t check the food was ok after serving it and gave extras so I had to check the bill; to give credit the bill was correct to what we ordered just served incorrectly. Personally, seems like the staff need better direction and instruction OR they need to hire more staff to free up current staff tondo what they’re best at. As I said, it has potential but it’s currently overpriced for the quality of the food and service… I’ve noticed the reply to other reviews with a similar experience says “…this experience is not a characteristic of their usual high standards” not sure how many times you can say that before accepting perhaps standards aren’t as high as they can be! Mentioned our experience to a staff member before paying who responded professionally and told management before taking payment… management offered to take the service charge off which we weren’t going to pay anyway. I’ve gave 2 stars as it was a nice venue which was clean and staff...
