There's no doubt that this pub has a great atmosphere, courteous and helpful bar staff, a good selection of ales and the food is of a high standard and quality. So why not five stars? When I say the food is of very good quality, unfortunately the same cannot be said of the quantity. My husband and I came here for lunch following a morning stroll along the North Downs Way and had worked up a fair appetite. Whilst I was broadly happy with the portions of my choice, my husband who chose the duck breast, only received six small slices along with the potato and veg sides which were also a little too conservative in portion sizes, which made his choice rather expensive for the amount he received.
He has given this feedback to the staff who informed him that they do not serve a whole duck breast. It is a pity, about half as much again would have been satisfactory and given the pub a perfect five!
If you like walking the pub also have pamphlets of circular walks from and to the pub which is a...
Read moreThe Dirty Habit is a great place as a base for a whole bunch of different walks around the North Downs. I don't know if they still do them but when we first moved to the area, we picked up a handful of leaflets detailing 'Walks of The Dirty Habit' and these range from easy 5k routes to slightly more challenging longer ones. We usually finish off the walk with a drink at The Dirty Habit. Although they do not have a great range of IPA's on offer (my husband is the IPA drinker) they do offer a vast array of other drink choices, including a decent selection of non alcoholic options. We have eaten there maybe twice, most recently after a walk last weekend and we had the tapas platter which was VERY nice however I would say it is grossly overpriced at £17! I do find, in general as a pub, that it is slightly on the pricey side but I would recommend doing some (if not all) of the walks centered around The Dirty Habit and either starting or finishing it (or both) with a...
Read moreCame here late on a Friday afternoon and so it was quiet. Had to ask how much longer food would be as they were only cooking for us and had waited over half hour for a burger and tikka kebab. Could also hear them mucking around in kitchen so obviously not busy....after chasing up also heard them say ....’microwave’ and then It then came straight out!. ......it looked very dramatic with a hanging kebab...which would have been great if it had been cooked! It was pink and still jelly like...nasty! My husbands £15 burger looked ok but we couldn’t wait another 20 mins for mine to be cooked as we had to be somewhere else. so we asked for the bill for drinks...we did think that under the circumstances the manager may not have charged us for them but they took £6.50 for a pint and half! Not impressed at .....the wait ( which if get good food you don’t mind) .....the raw food and lack of customer service. So...
