Tuesday 5th August 2025, My husband and I went to meet our friends Valerie and Bill and to go for lunch at the ‘The Dewdrop’ in Upper Broadheath, in Worcestershire.||My husband and I arrived on time and we met Valerie and Bill at twelve fifteen. We then went into the grey & white pub and were welcomed by a cosy and comfortable atmosphere. The restaurant was cool, cosy and light on this lovely sunny day. ||We were seated at a nice table for four on this lovely August Day. The table was laid with shiny cutlery and glasses and had grey napkins. The waitress brought us the menus, which we took some time to peruse and then we ordered our food and drinks.||We all had starters My husband, Valerie and Bill had the prawn cocktail with sour dough bread, which they said was very nice. I had the creamy garlic mushrooms which were served on sour dough bread with a rocket dressing. The starters were just the right size to get the palate started.||For our main courses: Valerie had the chicken supreme served with mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, green stem broccoli and a red wine gravy, which she said was really delicious. My husband and Bill had pork loin served with a mustard sauce with roasted carrots and golden thick cut chips, which they said was delicious. I had the Mediterranean Tort with a cheesy sauce, roasted tomatoes, green stem broccoli, buttered spinach and creamy mashed potatoes, the tort was delicious. The food all came together and it was well presented and served piping hot. ||We washed all this lovely food down with a pint of ‘Zero Guinness’ for My husband. Bill had a pint of ‘Stowfords’ cider. Valerie had a IPA and I had a ‘Kopparberg’ strawberry and lime cider, which was really nice.||We all had desserts; Bill had chocolate and clotted cream ice cream. My husband and Valerie had the blueberry cheesecake served with raspberry sorbet, which they both said were delicious. I too had ice cream which was cookies and cream and pistachio. The desserts were delicious and the perfect finish to our meals.||We did not bother with teas or coffees afterwards as we were all well fed and very content. We spent over three hours here catching up on...
Read moreThe Dewdrop inn is a country pub, restaurant and accomodation lying about 5 miles outside Worcester centre in a quiet country village. Its all on one floor with the bar and restaurant as you enter the site and the rooms in a wing with separate entrance. We stayed for two nights last week and were pleased with our room which appeared to be the biggest and overlooked the lawned beer garden. You could hear music from the bar on the night and people talking on the outside tables. It all closes at 11:30pm anyway so was never intrusive. The bed was a bit hard for us but we are light in weight. When they have recovered from the pandemic, I would recommend updating the bathroom. The loo seat is cheap and flimsy, some floor tiles were cracked and had discoloured grout. The basin plug leaked badly and the shower enclosure was small and had a high step and no soap dish. The restaurant was very well appointed and served excellent quality meals and breakfasts. The breakfast menu had numerous choices but we had the full english. All ingredients were locally sourced, e.g. fresh farm eggs done anyway you choose, Gloucester old spot sausages, bacon, tomatoes, wild mushrooms, black pudding, toast etc. All very tasty. We were most impressed by how nice, friendly, efficient and helpful all the staff were. We must make a special mention of LISA who attended at breakfast time. We asked if they could supply a Saturday newspaper but they dont offer that service. Lisa, very kindly, offered to get one for us on her way in to work, which she did. We didnt realise, until the morning, that she cycled in and went out of her way to get it. She really did go the extra mile!! The tariff for early August was £130 per night including breakfast. Its more expensive than similar in the area, but offers good sized comfortable rooms with a fantastic restaurant and lovely staff. Modernise the bathroom and we would...
Read moreI’m going to say I think it’s priced quite punchy for what is, broadly speaking, a fairly basic room. Small telly, cheap tea and coffee options, furniture and toiletries basic. It’s kind of Best Western standard, which is absolutely grand as it’s clean and fulfils its requirements, but it isn’t the kind of room you’d necessarily want to hang out in beyond being asleep in there. I am also frustrated at paying extra for an infant stay. The option to include a infant was +£10, I believe. I called ahead of arrival to confirm my booking and to enquire as to what provision there’d be for the infant I’d booked for. Travel cot and blankets was the word, all good.
On arrival, no such provision had been made. No matter, I asked for the paraphernalia to be put in place as we were off out for a few hours in the evening. On our return, there was still no travel cot. Didn’t feel worthwhile to ask again, to be honest, as reception was closed and I’d already asked twice.
The staff throughout the stay were very good, from the person who brought me my pint on arrival, to the very helpful guy that served us nightcaps as we arrived back. The server at breakfast was a top man also, under some pressure, however, as the only front of house staff during a busy service. Something of a staffing oversight, perhaps, to have one guy for 6 or 7 tables if he has to take orders, serve food and make the drinks. He was dead nice, though and apologetic about the wait. Not his issue, though, he was top.
The breakfast itself was an absolute winner. Black pudding hash. Absolutely superb, as was the coffee. Bar and dining room very nice all-in, and the beer garden was somewhere I”d like to spend more time in.
Aye. It’s a 3 star hotel with 5 star individuals and a 5...
