We visited one evening while on holiday in the nearby area. On arrival we enjoyed a pleasant drink in the garden which did have spectacular views. After 30 minutes we decided to go inside as it was getting cold. We advised the bar person that we had moved and we were told no problem at all. After over an hour of waiting for our food, we were greeted by a very rude lady who appeared from the kitchen, our plates in hand, who made us feel very unwelcome by questioning why we had brought our dog to this exact part of the pub. We explained we would be happy to move but we had not been made aware that we could not sit at this specific table with our dog (i would like to add the ladies own dog was barking its head off from the kitchen all throughout this conversation). The lady continued to confront us in the middle of the pub and made it very clear how unwelcome we were. After saying numerous times we could move if she wanted us to, she told us to stay where we are and blamed the bar girl for the mis communication (the bar girl was very nice by the way).
As for the food.....terrible. We ordered 2 x medium/rare steaks which were very well done. The gammon was tough and over cooked yet the chips were still half frozen. Nothing fresh or home made about this place. Normally, im not one to complain however, on this ocassion our experience left us feeling unwelcome, embarrassed, disappointed and...
Read moreMe and my partner had a a lovely experience here at the New Inn. We had gone on a weekend getaway and stayed not far from the New Inn. We arranged and booked to stop at The New Inn for some food and drinks. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely member of staff who quickly got us seated and took our orders. The atmosphere was peaceful and friendly. The view from our seat was lovely looking out onto the front garden with an amazing tree in-front of us. After orders the food came out fairly quick and the staff couldn’t have done a better job in making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The food was lovely and both me and my partner enjoyed it. The portions were a great size and a member of staff even offered to wrap up the food we couldn’t finish, to take away with us which was lovely. For me and my partner the service was amazing and the staff were all very friendly. We returned the day after for a few drinks in the bar area and yet again the staff were brilliant. Quick service and great atmosphere. All of the staff that we seen were a credit to themselves and made our stay amazing we couldn’t have hoped for better. I would 100% recommend visiting here. Great atmosphere, lovely staff, reasonable prices and lovely food. Thank you to everyone at...
Read moreIn my opinion this place is very poor ...no atmosphere...my dining table is better dressed at home...an experience I will remember for ever .... UPDATE: we were at an event all day yesterday with no phone signal so were not aware of the 3 missed calls, text message & whats app message regarding this review from the New Inn until the evening. We chose this restaurant on the basis of previous good reviews so for the benefit of others, will expand on my opinion of the place. On arrival, location is great. A beautiful tree at the front & stunning views. Our expectation was a cosy country pub vibe, but instead it felt to us like a sports clubhouse bar. If the current protocol is to not set out place mats or beer mats then this could easily have been explained to us as we were seated. We were seated by some patio doors which looked out at the back end of a garage/ farm - a bit of an eyesore in comparison to the stunning views at the front. Perhaps some curtains or screening could be placed to hide this? The menu was provided on a piece of laminate which unfortunately reminded us of a previous bad experience many years ago. Having said all that, the Food & service was ok. Hence the two stars. As stressed originally, this is my opinion...others can & will see it...
