Balloon Bar at Belvoir Retail Village — Restaurant in Melton

The bar is very beautiful and the singer for the jazz evening was fantastic however the service was the worst I’ve ever experienced.

We arrived for our booking at 7:30 and showed ourselves to our table as there was nobody to greet. When we were seated nobody approached to offer a menu so we located one ourselves from another table. It then took over half an hour and us chasing at the bar before the first member of staff approached to take our order. This is poor considering there were only five tables of people at that time. Three groups who arrived after us were served before us. We eventually received our first and only round of drinks 46 minutes after arriving. The cocktails are pre mixed from a pouch - how can it take 46 minutes to receive a cocktail poured from a pouch? Between receiving our drinks at 8:16 and 9:30 we were not approached or offered another drink and couldn’t muster up the energy to fight to be served so went to the bar to pay the bill. We saw the tables on either side of us having the same problem - both had to chase at the bar to be served and sat for a long time with no drinks or empty glasses. Just as we had given up and were leaving the waitress (who had spent all evening ignoring us and multiple other tables) did her first trip around the room to see if anyone wanted a drink!!

We spent two hours at the balloon bar and had one round of drinks - we were willing to spend a lot more money but it seems this establishment doesn’t want the money.

The menu on the website is not the menu offered in the bar. We were told they have been taken over and now the menu is much more limited. We expected some interesting cocktails but there are now only a 4 or 5 to choose from. This was a gin and jazz evening however there were no gins listed on the menu - you would expect some gin cocktails for a gin and jazz night. You can request gin if you can find a person to request it from.

I would never usually give a poor review but we left really disappointed and felt the staff really don’t care about the customer experience. To be chatting to other staff members who are in there drinking when customers haven’t been approached for over an hour is...

I have had a table booked in The Balloon Bar for Weeks and we arrived yesterday 21/5/2021 @12 lunchtime only to be told it’s closed the girl on reception after a while found us a table at the back near the exit door. it was only last week that I rang the Balloon Bar to add anther 2 guests to my Daughters Birthday meal I was full of high expectations on entering then dashed when our preferred place wasn’t open So Disappointing!! I would of thought someone could of rang me or emailed me that The Balloon Bar was closed . However all the staff were very pleasant and young not a mature person there to complain too. My Husband and I were way overdressed for this occasion however the cleanliness of the Glasses was terrible that bad that I drank my beer out of the bottle my birthday daughter had lipstick left on her red wine glass !! The meal was typical pub grub not very warm either !! No cutlery was placed till after all meals were delivered to the table . I thought this was going to be something special. I also didn’t get my £10 deposit I paid for the meal or refunded it didn’t come off the bill. . Shame on you Belvoir Castle !! and The Fuel Tank at the Engine Yard . A table was booked a few weeks ago online. Upon arrival we went to the Balloon Bar to find it in darkness. We were then confronted by the bar manager - I showed him the text confirmation of the time and date on my phone. He was rather belittling commenting upon how my text was unreadably small and the fact that the bar didn't open until 5pm despite the online booking being for 3pm. Once he'd focussed his eyes and realised the booking was correct he grudgingly directed us to a get a table outside at which time he graciously offed a round of drinks at the Duchesses expense........
