Very disappointed with tonight’s meal. I ordered a medium rare steak for it to come out still mooing. Followed by no check back during the entire meal leaving me and my partner without a drink for the whole meal and myself eating just chips for my dinner as I could not ask for the steak to be cooked some more. When the lady came to clear the table (15 minutes after we had finished and around 6 glances at the table by her and the other lady.. clearing avoiding clearing my table as they could see the full steak on it!!) she asked if everything was okay? I explained it was not as the steak was basically blue and there was no check back (anyone asking how the meal is/if we need anything) so I could not ask for drinks or for my steak to be cooked for longer. To which she replied ‘you should’ve got one of our attentions for us to sort it’ … you think I don’t try? However I have worked in pubs and restaurants and am not a person to sit shouting and being rude to get your attention. She told me ‘she would speak to the manager to see what they could do’ I asked to speak to the manager and she said no she would. They came back and said they have taken off the cost of the steak… thanks?? What about the fact the service was horrendous and my monthly date night with my husband got ruined and I’m going home hungry!! When I then went to pay the bill. The waitress was whispering to the manager by the coffee machine behind the bar (clearly about me, let’s be more subtle guys) the manager then looked at me and walked off!! Leaving the waitress to serve me! You have now lost a local loyal customer, due to the fact you couldn’t even apologise.

So i might be being picky but if something is stated as included on the menu then if i pay for it,i expect it to actually be there. Under the steak menu the gammon is included. At the top of the steak menu it says that it comes with a Buffalo tomato and a flat mushroom.. Meal arrives and there is a Buffalo tomato but no mushroom. I questioned the server and was informed that it doesn't come with a mushroom ! How does it come with the tomato but not the mushroom !! If the gammon isn't included in the steak menu them why is it under this thos heading ? It must be under this menu as it came with a Buffalo tomato which isn't in the dish list but at the top if the menu of things that are included.. Apart from this the food was amazing and the service was fantastic. So I'm probably being a little petty but at the same time, its listed so should be there.

We met up with our aunty & uncle, and they suggested The Flying Childers as it’s their local, we’d not been but we were surprised how nice it was. The menu options were great, the staff were amazing our server was fantastic, nothing was to much trouble and she smiled and we had a laugh which was lovely, all to often servers can be a little stand offish, they’re there to do a job and that’s all they do, only wish I could remember her name. Hopefully they’ll read this and identify her 😊 (it was Friday night around 6ish). Tracey had the chicken kebab skewer which was amazing everything cooked to perfection, myself and Pete had the fish & chips and aunty marg had the hunters chicken, everything was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been.
