I would have given 5 stars but for a few things. Firstly there are not many disabled parking places. People like myself need them as we need our car doors open fully. You have to stand and wait a long while to give your order as the assistants make the coffees and serve at the same time. When your food is ready, which does not take long, you see the waitresses wandering around the three rooms with plates of food in their hands shouting out a receipt number. Would be much more calm to have a table number and give that when you order. Then your foods comes directly to you. I would have liked a side plate for my toast and butter. It comes on top of your plate of food therefore the toast was soaked with the juices from the food. The food itself is excellent and the restaurant good except for the hard wooden chairs so find yourself a padded one. The cake side is good and you can eat in or take the food out. A bonus is that well behaved dogs are allowed in the conservatory now. In the warmer months the outside seating is nice with a lovely view across the fields. There is a safe play area for children. A potting shed selling garden plants and a small farm shop. All in all, would I go there again it is a...
Read moreSo so disappointed. Rude staff, got kicked out of the play barn early for singing happy birthday to my 6 year old daughter.
A bit of background: Myself and a few mum friends frequently visit Hill top, usually after school to let the kids blow off some steam.
Myself and 3 other parents arrived this afternoon with birthday cake for my daughter. (No decorations, no other food, no party bags, no music) EACH adult went into the cafe and bought drinks/snacks. We were stared at by two members of staff, had comments made at us and then got kicked out of the play barn 30 mins before close because we had a birthday cake/sang happy birthday. We were told we had made a huge mess (it was no less messy than any other time we visit, which is like 3+ times a week). Bare in mind, there were other children / families playing in the barn too… We were then told off as we were leaving by one of the waitresses. It was like she was waiting on the corner to say something to one of us. So so rude. I wouldn’t recommend visiting, they’re on some weird power trip. Totally unprofessional, awful. Will not...
Read moreLovely, authentic little farm shop. Fresh and frozen meat available, baked treats, dog treats, jam, canned stock, meat rubs (if I remember rightly), liquid herbs, strawberries, cream. I would say just about anything you would want a farm shop to sell and more...though couldn't find any clotted cream...maybe they were just out 🤷🏻♀️. Will become a regular as soon as I can drive. Great park for the kids to play in, food at the restaurant was lovely, sausage roll has been through the 'honey I blew up the kids' machine cos it was enormous...(it was the cleanest joke I could think of)...Staff were lovely and polite even when they were rushed off their feet. Expect to pay a little bit though if staying for food, not that the prices weren't justified but if you want something cheap and cheerful I'd put this in the ££ bracket however the frozen meat in the shop usually has a good deal on it so po-tay-toe po-tah-toe. Oh...and best of all...it's...
