Okay, so we always come here at weekends and we absolutely love it. The food is great. Staff are great and it’s such a cosy pub HOWEVER. We decided to visit during the week. This was the biggest mistake we made. Full of territorial locals who want to make sure you know it’s ‘their’ pub. I find it very immature that middle aged men act like this. Whenever needing to order from the bar, the locals will stand at the bar leaving no gaps, they do NOT move for you and the bar staff do not acknowledge you either. You have to physically force yourself through and the locals look at you like you have 5 heads. A very unpleasant experience as we thought the staff would have been more stricter with the men standing at the bar not moving (even though there’s tables to sit at) I feel like this is learnt behaviour and the owners of the pub could do more for this as after my encounter here, speaking to a few friends apparently this is a known pub to not visit during the week because of the locals. From this experience we will not be visiting again. Such a shame because it’s a beautiful pub, great food (the food really is amazing!)and certain staff are great! The locals just completely ruin it with their silly immature behaviour. I really do not recommend visiting this pub during the week. Clique,...
Read moreI was a little disappointed to be honest. Menu's weren't on the table and we had to ask for them after waiting ten minutes and then the food itself took quite a while to arrive.
The most disappointing aspect was I tried a "Dirty Burger" which was described as a burger with pulled beef brisket and a battered Mars bar! A very weird combination of tastes for sure but I was intrigued to the point of choosing that over other options that would normally take my fancy.
What turned up was a burger with pulled beef brisket. And a message from the waitress that the Battered Mars bar would be with me soon. It turned up several minutes later when I was pretty much mostly through my burger.
I'd understand if was advertised as a burger with a Mars to follow but felt mislead. Especially after some of the weird and tasty items I've had at the Rub House in Birmingham.
Service as a whole was pretty slow and a mix of friendly and polite to short and unprofessional. Perhaps that is more the village way of life though and slowing down is a good thing. Just not the kind of thing you want when you're entertaining two...
Read moreNice pub in a rural setting🌿within Nottinghamshire that has an extremely extensive menu. 😮 There’s a simple bar menu which includes sandwiches, baguettes and soups🥪, a burger menu with amazing gourmet burgers 🍔 , a main menu with gastropub/contemporary cuisine 🍽 a classics menu serving fish n chips, pie and chips , gammon and eggs etc and there’s always a specials menu with lots of choice !
Whenever we go , I have a hard time deciding what to pick 🤔(in a good way) .
Pricing is slightly steep on some of their items but the food is pretty decent quality most of the time and I assure you , you won’t starve with the portions they give you.
They have a nice size garden for warmer days and evenings too.☀️
I’d recommend this pub to anyone local, or passing within a few miles of this area or like myself who visits the Midlands most...
