Today, my wife and I experienced one of the most upsetting and unforgettable moments of our lives. We went to this coffee shop around 1:30 PM and, after waiting, found an available table. Just as we were about to sit, two white customers approached us, told us to leave the table for them, and quickly sat down before we could. Shocked by their audacity and they said if we want to share the table they would welcome us. we decided to speak to the manager about what had happened.
I explained to the manager that we had been waiting patiently, saw the table first, and reached it before the other customers, who then demanded we give it up to them or they would welcome us. Instead of addressing the situation or speaking to the other customers, the manager laughed and told us there was no queueâessentially saying that whoever sits first gets the table. I pointed out that we had reached the table first and were unfairly treated, but he refused to acknowledge this. The other customers even had the nerve to say us they would âwelcome us to share the tableâ as if they were doing us a favor. And then they shout on us and said 'piss off'. The issue is not finding a table the issue what we lived in their coffe shop and how come other customers can say us to leave our table to them as we were before them.
I then told the manager that his behavior felt blatantly discriminatory, as he seemed to favor the other customers simply because they were white. and i guess we were the only non white customers at that moment. I asked if we were being treated this way (he even did not try to speak to the other customers) because we were not white while my wife was in tears. As an answer, Instead of showing any empathy, he defended other customers with a smile on his face again. and when we said we will write a review about the racism we lived today here he simply said write it. We left the coffee shop in tears, deeply hurt and humiliated.
I have lived in this country for six years and have never lived racisim or accused anyone of racism before. However, what happened today was undeniable, and it has left both my wife and me traumatized. We are devastated by the blatant racism we experienced and the lack of basic respect and fairness shown to us. This experience has shaken us to our core. I would never imagine we would be in this kind of...
Read moreSuch a racist manager. Today we have been this coffee shop with my husband around 1.30 pm. In summary what happened is, We waited and had found a table. We were just trying to sit the table and then 2 white people came said us to leave the table for them and sit in a rush and just before us. I called the manager and i told what happened, we waited in the queue and we first saw the table and we first reached the table and after us they came to the same table and said us to leave the table to them and sit before us, and what he has only done was laughed and said there is no queue who first see the table and sit he said. And i said this is what we have already done we were before them at the table they said us to leave the table for them as they wont got or they said they would 'wellcome us by sharing the table with us' so we have to choose in between. why they would welcome us what do they even mean? and he even did not try to talk the other customer about what happend and I said I understand so basicly as a manager you want to give the table to other customer because they are white and you do not want to serve us and help us because we are turkish and colored, he laughed again and we left the coffe shop in tears literally crying the all day. 6 years i am living in this country and I have never blamed anyone with racisim and i am so shocked the racism that I have lived today and it created a trauma on us with my husband. Even other waitress get upset against what we lived...
Read moreI recently visited The Courtyard Coffee Shop, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a treat. The staff were warm, welcoming, and provided excellent service throughout my visit.
The highlight of my experience was the incredible banoffee pie puddingâit was absolutely heavenly! The balance of flavors and textures was spot on, and itâs easily one of the best desserts Iâve ever had. I also appreciated the attention to detail with their loose-leaf tea, which was rich and aromatic, and served with care. To top it all off, the fresh orange juice was a refreshing complement to my meal, bursting with natural flavor.
The Courtyard Coffee Shop is a gem, offering not only top-notch food and drinks but also a genuinely pleasant experience thanks to their wonderful staff. I highly recommend stopping by, especially if youâre in the mood for an amazing dessert and a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Five stars...
