Booked a table for 8. We was seated in the conservatory without heating, it was freezing sat in our coats. We asked for other seating elsewhere but as we were a large party there was none. 3 other couples come in to eat and moved out of the conservatory while we was there due to the cold. Our food arrived but the plates wasn't heated, and it was obvious our food had been left on the side without any heat plates. The food was only just warm, 2 of us complained and both dishes was replaced. We then all had our food but then had to wait 5 mins for the veg! - yes before you know it your main food is cold again!. This is one of those places you wished you lived closer to, what a lovely pub with fabulous hosts, as for the food well all I can say is amazing, prawn cocktail was very well presented and delicious served with fresh warm farmhouse bread and butter (gluten free option available) my wife had the rump steak and I had the sirloin both were cooked to perfection and both were melt in your mouth, as for the chunky chips that accompanied them well I actually think they were the best chips I've ever eaten, there was a Portobello mushroom and half a grilled tomato along with a side salad too, all very well presented I must say. We will definitely return in the future even if it means driving the 30 miles from home just to...
Read moreTraditional pub in a nice setting , providing well kept beer and wines, plus a well varied menu of freshly prepared foods. All the food was of a good standard, I had the Melton ploughman's lunch which had a local cheese selection and a light salad, plus a pork pie slice for around £7.50 which I thought was reasonable as it was enough to share for 2 especially with a bowl of hand cut chips at £2 on the side. The pub is bright and traditional with a modern twist to the decor, staff were friendly and very polite. Toilets were cleaned to a good standard, and doorways were wide enough to accommodate a small powered mobility chair. Ample parking spaces available to rear of building . On the whole a good place for a drink and meal without...
